If you follow Splinterlands closely, you know they have a schedule for maintenance intervals to release new updates, and that is on Tuesdays, between certain hours. If some patches need to be released, there is a secondary maintenance schedule they can use on Thursdays, but releases come on Tuesdays.
They came to this schedule after a few iterations, trying to minimize the impact on the players' gaming experience. These days, most maintenance periods are announced in advance and the regular ones for releasing new updates are kind of set in stone.
I brought this up because I find their system to be working, with minimal impact on our experience.
The second reason I mentioned it was because during yesterday's maintenance some important updates were pushed out.
Here are the 3 updates that caught my attention (you have the full list of them here):
1. SPS Rewards were Added to Brawls
This was a proposal that 87% of the voting SPS stake was in favor of, so it had major support and it passed without any issues.
Shortly after, we see it implemented in the game. The SPS rewards for Brawls will start with the next cycle, meaning on November 14th, but it has already been released during yesterday's maintenance. It has been added after the current brawls cycle started, that's why the SPS rewards begin on November 14th.
Exactly how much SPS can be earned by each Brawl participant is explained in the text of the proposal:

This is the table that shows the distribution of rewards per tier:
2. Tech Modernization Successfully Released
After two attempts with issues, it's important to remark yesterday Tech Modernization was released, and apparently, this time holds the production test.
I mention this because this is the first prerequisite to land expansion, and also a prerequisite for the non-card market, which is also needed before land comes out.
So, great to finally see it arrive, although it doesn't mean much to us directly. In fact, all the affected pages that I tested work slower for the time being.
3. GLX Staking About to Come Live
This is not an update to the Splinterlands platform, but one to the GLS platform. While GLX staking was supposed to be released yesterday, looks like it'll happen today after all.
Here are the relevant pieces of announcements:
And the delay:
Staking is an easy option compared to trading if you want to hold the GLX tokens long-term.
