At the end of 2023, at the initiative of (in this post), a challenge was thrown to the lions. To set and follow through on one or more Leofinance-related goals for 2023.
Since I am a goal-oriented person, I decided to participate, and this is my initial post.
The challenge also mentions it is a good idea to post a progress update at the beginning of every month, until the 5th. I started in January, although that was a bit too soon after the challenge started.
Now, that an entire month is behind us, there are more things that happened that are worth mentioning.
I started the year with exactly 10500 LEO staked. The goal at the end of 2023 is to have 22500 LEO staked. That breaks down into interim guidelines of 1000 LEO staked monthly.
Compared to last year, when the LEO staking goal was a relatively easy target, I wanted to make it a little more challenging this year.
After only one month it seems I have succeeded in doing that. While I managed to hit the guideline for January, I expected it to be easier. Particularly because January is a long month and I started with some liquid LEO from 2022 which I powered up after the year started.
But that wasn't enough. Toward the end of the month, seeing that I won't hit the guideline for January, I purchased some LEO (about 150) from the market (it is a good price too, in my opinion). I bought a little more on the last day of the month because for some reason the dividend for my HP delegation to didn't come through in one of the last days of January.
So, here's what things looked like on February 1st, with my monthly guideline of 1000 LEO staked achieved:
Since then I staked a little more LEO, but from now on I am on hold for the LPUD.
In my previous update, I said I won't keep myself bonded to hit these monthly guidelines. At the same time, this January should have been very favorable to hitting this guideline. If in January I wouldn't hit it, then now in February, the shortest month of the year, I'd be in trouble for sure.
I am curious myself how this month will go on. Even though I post daily on Leofinance, author and curation rewards fluctuate, so we'll see what they'll amount to. I'll decide toward the end of the month (or sooner if the conditions are favorable) if I want to add more LEO from the market at that time. Hitting the guideline will likely not be a priority in February. But we'll see.
