Third day in a row with a Splinterlands post. I need to start writing about other things too because apparently there's more besides Splinterlands out there. Some would debate that. :)
But... today was the end of the season, and, as you might've expected lots of drama has been unfolding.
Some achieved their goals and, given how tough things have gotten lately, I'm sure they have reasons to congratulate themselves. I congratulate them anyway!
Many others may be frustrated that they haven't reached where they thought they would.
Among them, some will come to better feelings after seeing the season rewards. And others won't, quite the contrary.
But that's the game, and the element of luck involved at all corners.
As for myself, this is one of those seasons I'm not proud of. But the rewards made it a little better.
I talked the other day about my attempt to break the longest win streak I had in the Wild format, in the Modern format. Well, that didn't happen. In Wild, my longest streak is 27 wins, while in Modern it was prematurely terminated at 25 by a Llama and a poor choice of lineup on my part.
And now the fun part comes... I didn't make it to CL3 in Wild either, although I was close.
But my ECR dropped to 50% and I simply had to give up my attempt to go higher, even though I still had about one hour of time from the season. But I wasn't about to waste 5% ECR per game for a hypothetical situation where I would have reached CL3 in time.
I have to say my adventure in the Modern format might've cost me the advancement to CL3. Again, hypothetical. Because I consumed about 20% ECR in the Modern format in two days, which is almost a full day's worth of ECR.
Not reaching CL3, has two consequences for the next season:
- I'll start in Gold 1 instead of Diamond 3 (that's relatively ok, I sometimes dropped from Diamond 3 to Gold 1 in the initial days of the season and had to rank back up)
- I'll play for Diamond chests for season rewards instead of Champion chests (this one I kind of regret, because there's an obvious difference between the rewards of the two types of chests)
Until now I described the "cold one" from the title. Might have been more than one after all.
But there was a hot one after opening the season rewards. Others might've had even better performances, but when you get over 113 USD worth of Splinterlands assets at the end of the season, any comparison is pointless.
What I like even more is that most of the value from the rewards comes from SPS.
Over 100 USD worth of SPS, at these low prices. In SPS terms, that's 1870. During the early SPS airdrop days, I would have needed 5-6 days to match that amount of SPS dropped. So, that's significant.
Nothing else except the SPS and the two packs are worth mentioning though. But that's a great round of rewards!
