Rising Star came with an update a few hours ago changing the way the Starbits Millionaire's mission works.
The way to mission works now, one needs 1000 fans, level 50, and the Startbits Millionaire card (which is received for free upon request, once you have 1 million STARBITS in your Hive-Engine wallet).
But looks like the mission was abused, and some users only did enough to qualify for this mission and play it every day, and then extract value. They had no interest in growing their accounts in the game.
This may be ok for their own purposes, but it's not sustainable for the game and defeats its evolutive nature as well.
So, two changes will be implemented in the game starting on June 27th.
Change 1: The Fans Requirement Grows with the Number of Times the Mission Has Been Played
Instead of being a fixed number, set at 1000, the number of fans required to run the Starbits Millionaire's Mission will grow each time you run the mission, based on this formula:
fan_requirement = 1000 + (100 x number of Starbits Millionaire missions you have run).
So, if you have run the mission 100 times, you need at least 11000 fans to run the mission the 101st time.
After a year of daily running the mission, you'd need 37500 fans to run another Starbits Millionaire mission.
Well, I hope when the new requirements for the mission come into play on the 27th (or even before to give people time to prepare!), there will be a counter for the missions we have run until now, so we know where we stand.
Personally, I'm doing well for this requirement. I don't remember when I started playing the Starbits Millionaire's mission (although I could track that information down), but I have over 44000 base fans and I've been playing Rising Star for less than a year (without checking exact dates). So I even have spare fans.
Btw, a nice milestone on the Rising Star for me this week: I passed 1000 cards.
Change 2: Receive 10% Extra Bonus By Holding STARPRO
I'll just add the quote from the original post here:
If you hold 0.03 STARPRO x number of Starbits Millionaire missions you have run then you will get a 10% bonus on the Millionaire Mission.
The "0.03" will change as the STARBITS & STARPRO prices change but the goal is to allow you to get back 1000 STARBITS for the same cost as buying the equivalent STARPRO (or earning it in Music Promoter) and holding it.
I'm having trouble understanding the reasoning behind this change. This will incentivize holding STARPRO and not using it. At the same time, to keep receiving the bonus, you'd have to swap the full bonus to STARPRO every day and hold it, as far as I understand it.
I don't use much STARPRO, but it was my impression this was more useful to pay for different things in-game rather than hold it. Maybe I'm not getting this right about why would anyone just hold STARPRO instead of using it.
If anyone understands how this would be beneficial, I'd appreciate it if you let us know in the comments section. Maybe as a new dynamic introduced to the Music Promoter feature?
Conclusion
Overall, whenever bad dynamics are noticed in an economy (including one of a game), one needs to try to counteract them before they become overwhelming and crush the entire economy.
So, I believe these changes are beneficial to Rising Star, they will incentivize more re-investing in the game instead of extracting a considerable portion out.
