Sales, the button that closes deals and salespeople are the deal closers. Very funny how i place a lot of importance to salespeople? Tell me any industry in the world that adds to the economic growth of a country that does not require the presence of a salesperson?
I have seen a lot of people who leave school only to start looking for means to learn professional sales courses before going into the sales world or picking a career in it. There are a lot of profession that rely on sales to deal with communication, negotiation, persuasion and closing of deals.
With good selling skills, the ability to predict the market and how it would turn out to be becomes a part of the process. A salesperson understands how customers perceive goods, brand, products, time, season and the economy, and these factors are used to determine how to make the next sales. The ability to understand customer patterns and how to predict their next negotiation move is a skill that salespeople learn outside the four walls of a school
The ability to make success in sales is to be able to predict a circumstance either good or bad, and be able to sell under negative circumstances. As a sales person, never confuse refusal for rejection. When you want to sell a product, there is a possibility that a large percentage of them will say no because of reasons like lack of financial capacity, no current interest, and so on, when customers/clients say no in a sales process, never confuse it for rejection. The ability to turn No to YES is one attribute of a salesperson. Every regular person whom you want to sell a product to at first is never ready to buy whatever you are selling, most times, it is a defence mechanism, other times, it could be knee-jack and so on.
As a good salesperson, getting past negative response from customers can be a little difficult but can be solved through;
- first understanding the customer and their contenance
- Taking away ego while in the sales field, you are a sales person and getting your deal closed is where you earn money. You are never to be rude to a client, and when told no, if the egoistic level is down, the ability to push further would be there.
- When a customer says no, it is good to acknowledge what they say but do not accept, find a way to probe the reason for the refusal
- Try to tackle the reason why the client should deal with you and not the no that is continuously said
- Finally, never overstep your boundaries.
