I just had a zoom call with my good friend and fellow Real Estate Alchemist Mitchel Durfee!
Mitchel Durfee is the author of the book Serve to Win and also the author of The Millionaire Business Mindset. Mitch being my mentor, asks me what I have been working on, and if I have events coming up. I tell him that I had started Real Estate Alchemist where the whole concept is being an alchemist and an alchemist is that person who doesn't just see a normal deal as it is. In real estate, people just go, get the deal and make 70% or 80% or whatever percentage they're making.
It is basically 3K, 4K, 5K whatever you're making on a deal which is the same case with wholesaling where you can make 5K, 10K on a deal well as for a real estate alchemist is someone who goes into every single appointment and has away to make money out of it. They're not mere wholesalers, they're either doing a flip, they are tieing everything in together where they're agent wholesalers doing a flip, doing a rental, doing seller financing, collecting the money from the seller afterward and using that money to finance the next deal.
Everything I have learned from my mentors and companies I have worked in is how you can make money out of absolutely from everything you touch then beyond that is the selfie so that everybody I'm working with is promoting my business on teaching people how to do the same thing. That is what seminars are basically about how do you make money, how do you do the next deal, and how not to just be a normal investor, not a normal agent but how to get more money out of every single transaction you make. The secret to this is that the person who makes most per transactions is the one who can buy the next client.
Leaving Vermont For Better Weather
I ask Mitch how did the transition happen of first buying rental property in Vermont, living in Florida, and having real estate deals all over the country. He says that one of the things he was missing was a solid network of people. He says that being born and raised in Vermont where it doesn't have the business type of people. He says that he knew that real estate was the model and that is how he was going to generate income.
From knowing this, he started a business so that he could create income to buy properties and focused on masterminding with people that were in businesses and masterminding with people that had real estate. He narrates that is interesting how people owned businesses in his mastermind called G19 that every single one of them owned rental property. He was like maybe he should continue doing this property rental stuff and it is from this that he grew his business and he grew that same business in four states from where he started traveling because Vermont was small and couldn't make it there.
He drew out from Vermont after two years and started buying around the country, in Colorado, Texas, Florida, Connecticut, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont, North Carolina and he was able to this was because of the teams he had. The people that he was able to network with and build relationships with which didn't happen overnight but for 6 years.
When Covid Is Gone I Want To Get Back On Stages!
Mitch asks me what is it that I'm focusing on in the next few months going ahead. I reply to him that I have an audiobook coming up which I did it by myself though it is was so difficult. If I only knew how much work it was going to be, then I would have definitely spared more time on the table to do this. I'm really focused on events and at some point, I want huge events where we're just filling the room and providing so much value, the same reason Mitch is doing.
We are doing training in different markets so that we can get the teams ready, build and frame them up and when they're ready to buy let's say in North Carolina, Vegas, Florida, and set the team. We will be wearing wristbands that say I'm an alchemist and when we go to events will be able to identify easily and conversation will start from the top, not the middle.
I Am Always Looking To Be Sold Something That Moves Me Forward
I ask Mitch what is it that he has going on because I really hate doing podcasts and interviews when somebody doesn't sell something. He says he has a few different types of programs like if you're looking to build your team.
He says he has an online course whether you're a services business or a professional business whatever you may call it and you're looking to free up your time which called How to Build Your Million Dollar Team and it costs $1000. He also says that he has a real estate realtor contribution group that has a lot of heavy hitters and urges me to promote my events through this group.
