There are lots of Hidden gems in my country that are waiting to be explored or found out, even the ones that are found have not be well utilized or explored yet. In my country, there are a lot of natural habitats with beautiful work of nature waiting to be explored. Nigeria is so blessed with many beautiful and natural places ranging from natural waterfalls and springs, we have lakes, long and big rivers, rocks in several states that give a panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and also insights into the history of the place, village or community, forests that are great for picnics, national parks and forest reserve that has diverse wildlife, stunning landscapes, and offers good opportunities for hiking and staring at the beauty of nature. Some places like this are ikogosi waterfall, olumo rock, idanre hills, oguta lake, kajuru castle, arinta waterfalls, owu waterfalls, ibeno beach and many more.
I remember back in the University, located in a small community in Ondo state, when rumor started spreading at year 3 that there is a water in the community. Apparently, some student went into the bush and discover very clean water gushing out from the rock and pouring heavily down. Everyone was eager to see this and before you knew it, students took turns to go and see for themselves because we didn't believe anything of such could be found there. My friends and I went there, it wasn't easy because we had to pass through the bush but on getting there , we saw nature in its purest form. The water was so clean and white that we all had a feel of it. Till today that waterfall is still a hidden gems that only the villagers are aware of it's existence .
Even when we go about in our small community we find interesting things like rocks naturally laid on each other, shapes of rocks that seem to have a resemblance, trees that take a particular form and shape, a body of water shaped in a magnetic way. Nigeria is so lucky and blessed with natural resources.
This is the case of so many beautiful and interesting places in Nigeria. I am sure if the government took infrastructure of some natural habitats seriously, the country could be a tourist center where the government can generate income to better the economic affairs of the country.
For instance, the idanre hills located in Ondo state is a hidden gem that has not been explored by many and it offers a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. The place is made of of many steps carved into a rock, although its a long way up through steps, but you encounter the caves and the scenery on your way up. When you get to the top , it's like a breath of fresh air, you feel elevated from the ground. In all it has a spectacular scenery.
