It's really interesting to find out that on the leofinance platform, there are several alternatives available to onboard new members without having to go through the kind of hassle I went through 2years ago. The major focus of the leofinance team is to make onboarding easy and smooth for new comers, this is why there are Leoinfra methods available that you can either sign up with an already existing X account or your Google account. Hence the Leo infra acts as a bridge that covers the gap between the web2 and the web3, although I see complaints of not having multiple keys like how it is with hivesigner.com and Co but I believe that is the beauty of it, to create a hassle free onboarding process.
So yesterday after church, I was just surfing through the leofinance front-end when a friend noticed and asked what's up with what I am doing because the front end looked strange to her. She figured I only do social medias like Facebook, x, snap chat and so on. Then I explained to her in basic terms about hive and leofinance, the everything app, leoThreading, blogging, content creation and all. Then, I remembered the Leoinfra test and decided to onboard her. There and then swe started the process together and I got the screenshot from her.
All that was needed was her android smartphone and internet, very simple right. At first there was the challenge of network issues, at some point we had to refresh again but we got it. So the steps for onboarding via Twitter goes thus...
First step was to login in to the sign up page via https://leofinance.io/signup
So, we were first welcome by a page that has the mission statement, everything that is needed to know about, a detailed welcome message to onboarder.
After selecting the "don't have an account" it brought us to this page with the 3 options of signing up and we selected the second option which states, sign up with Twitter. We could have used goodgle but she had some technical issues with it.
After selecting that, it led us to a phase where we had to choose a username, we tried her normal name but it had already been used, we. Tried sever3options by adding numbers so that it can be approved. Then we moved to the next stage.
After this, we had to authorize her Twitter account, so we can move on to the next stage
After authorization of Twitter account, we were redirected back to the beginning page with messages popping up saying, successfully created hive account, you will be redirected to login and synchronizing data with hive may take a while, and yes it did but didn't take much time at all.
After this procedure, we logging in again and this time the account has been created and the data linked successfully
The first thing we saw was the threads page in white theme. It was all new, the profile page was all empty and I told her to take her time filling the options when she gets home
However, one thing we tried severally that didn't work out is uploading a profile picture, it just did not index.
But as we speak, the page is getting attention, after her first thread, she has gotten 3replies.....one thing I like about leofinance community is the open handedness, members are ready to engage and help you through difficult times, when you are wrong they correct you and lead you the right way.
So far so good, testing the Leoinfra means of onboarding has been successful, first time I am onboarding and it went smoothly well.
My observations are:
- In my profile, I have a referral option for when I onboard members, but in the course of doing this there was no means to input a referral code or anything.
- it is for real that keys are not necessary for transactions on the blockchain, like posting, transactions are all free..
Well done leofinance team members👍 and welcome onboard
