I was reading a post by Acidyo yesterday where he shared about two different types of Hive users. I implore you to read the post 'coz it has a ton of value.
The post prompted me to evaluate how am I doing as a member of the Hive community, hence some questions:
Will you be missed on Hive when you suddenly stopped coming?
I can immediately think of some people here whom I'm going to wonder about what happened in case I don't get to see them posting anymore. Why? Because they constantly give and create value with what they do.
And thus made me wonder if someone will even notice if I stop posting and engaging here, whether somebody would start looking for me to check what happened. Or will I just fade into obscurity like I've never even existed?
I couldn't answer my own questions to be honest. I do not have the confidence to say someone here on Hive will actually have my back when I get into trouble or when I needed help of some sort. Although sometime ago, when we suddenly lost my mother-in-law and I didn't come to Hive for some weeks, a caring and beautiful soul I met here and on the other platform left a message on my Telegram asking how I was doing.
Some days ago, someone left me a comment saying they don't see me active here anymore. These two made me feel someone is going wonder about me at least, lol!
But seriously, have you ever thought about that too?
We probably know that our activities on-chain contribute to the growth of the blockchain but it doesn't really stop just by mere posting or creating contents. Hive is a community of people from all over the world and if we are to thrive here, we need to do more, i.e:
Build and establish connections
Hive is a social media on Web 3, hence we need to make and establish connections if we are to enjoy the social side of things. Additionally, we want eyes to the things we post and those eyes won't just come without us doing our part first.
And how do we build a connection?
Through meaningful interaction and engagement with others. Like Tito Ed
puts it on his Hive anniversary post this morning, we have to be TWENGERS (Two-Way Engagers). I am still working on that myself although I always or often engage around Hive.
By curating mindfully. Believe it or not, people will also notice you when you take time to curate their contents. I myself get curious and when time allows, I usually check those who upvotes my contents and visit their page to see how they are doing. I do need to keep working on this though. Sometimes I slack especially when I am busy with something else offline.
If I may add, be fun and be kind too.
This might be somewhat out of the equation but I think it is actually very important. People remember those who make them feel better especially during their lowest lows. Kindness is a brand too.
I firmly believe that what we do and how we do things here may build or break us in the eyes of others the long run. We may have different goals and purposes, but at the end of the day, we do want to be remembered too.
So what brand are you creating for yourself around Hive?
