We were at my sister's on Thursday evening and while having a chitchat, I noticed my niece, JZ on her pens and papers. She was doodling something on an intermediate paper with the model opened on her smartphone. I was intrigued if she had any finished artworks that I could see and that she wanted me to share online. She went in and came back with one that she made on (probably) a 10x10-inch canvas.
JZ loves to do various things, from playing strategy games on mobile to watching manga or anime and yes, drawing. She was 2 or 3 when we noticed her interest in doodling. She has a certain flair for art just like her sister Jeri, whose artworks I have shared here too.
Anyway, she showed me her draft of the Demon Slayer (Muzan) before she had another on the canvas. And being one who doesn't even know how to do a decent stick figure, I was simply blown away. For most, this might be a simple piece of art but to me, it's something quite fascinating.
Her love for anime is quite obvious in this hunk, Renguko. And from the date indicated, she made both pieces on the same day. Maybe she did the one on canvas at another time, I didn't really ask.
I learned that her sister-in-law finds the subjects on YouTube, downloads them, and lets JZ pick which ones she draws. At least they get along so well, lol!
The Farmboy recommended her to use the proper drawing papers (her mom seconded saying they bought different pads and boards but the girl prefers to have her doodles in loose papers which she can easily toss in the trash.
What a waste, huh?
She started doodling Mother Teresa on her school pad but I didn't take a whole photo of it. I would hope to check it out the next time we visit them. I hope she won't be discarding it or any others she'd make and that she will have more stuff to show me by then.
JZ is turning 11 next month and I believe she will improve a lot with more practice and time. It would be very interesting to see how things will turn out for her in the next 5 or 10 years to come. Maybe she'll learn how to paint or who knows? But I'm ardently hoping that adulting won't get in the way hehe!
Meanwhile, it's the weekend already. We were back home yesterday night and drove here to the other place early in the morning. Spent a few hours with Mom and will try to catch up on things here on Hive after this.
Cheers to a lovely Saturday and yes, let's follow our bliss today!
