The new month is here. So onward we go, yeah?
Okay, March! March... March... March...๐
I read some facts about the month and let me just share them today:
The name of March comes from Martius, the first month of the earliest Roman calendar. It was named after Mars, the Roman god of war, and an ancestor of the Roman people through his sons Romulus and Remus. His month Martius was the beginning of the season for warfare...ยน
Accordingly, if your birth month is March, then your birth flower is the daffodil and your birthstones are aquamarine and bloodstones. Both symbolize courage. How cool is that, noh?
Well, March up here in the mountains means it's the peak of the dry season and the days can be very hot, yet trees still bear fruits and flowers bloom, so all good!
Anyway, it's the first of the month and as we know it here on Hive, it's
Hive Power Up Day or HPUD.
This is going to be my third year of staking every first day of the month and also every single day (although I messed up and missed a day in January). That, however, doesn't deter me from keeping on.
And so, I did 50 for the day. I initially thought of just adding 15 but decided to add a bit more for a level 2 power up. In case you're wondering about the HPUD levels, it's a category by Hivebuzz, based on the amount of HIVE you stake and they determine the size of the badge that you're awarded: (oh how I miss the Hivebuzz notifications so hopefully, Arcange's HiveSQL will be back soon!)
- Level 1 means staking 10 HIVE
- Level 2 is 50 HIVE
- Level 3 is 100 HIVE
- Level 4 is staking 500 HIVE
- Level 5 is staking 1k HIVE
The highest amount of HIVE that I powered up during HPUD might have been 400 if I remember correctly. That was sometime in 2022. I have not been stacking liquid HIVE onchain so I'm kind of budgeting these days, lol!
Staked HIVE (Hive Power): 17,818
While my plans have shifted a bit, I'm still adding to my stakes every day. Last week, my Hive Power was at 17,656. So there's an increase of 162 HP in the last 6 days. Fifty (50) of these were added today and 11 from my daily staking. Others from curation (20 HP) and author rewards. Little by little, it's inching towards my year-end target.
By the way, if you are new and reading this, I invite you to join us and power up to grow your stakes too. I also recommend checking out the Fab 4 initiative on how to qualify for the HP delegations that could help you in your HP growth.
Since this post is about stakes, let me just include an update on my Leo Power and HBD Savings as well.
Staked LEO (Leo Power): 28,228
Meanwhile, the combined LEO staked (this and my alt) has increased a bit too. There were 28,100 LP in the previous week. So with the current LP, about 128 LEO were added. The bulk of that amount was from my daily staking. It could be more than that but due to some API issues, the payout from leo.bounties for the HP delegation to leo.voter has not been regularly coming as it used to but I believe that will be fixed sooner.
But yeah, still need about 4.7k LEO for this year's goal to be checked off. Well, we are in the first quarter so there's no rushing for me. The growth is a bit slow but that's what keeps me on my toes and enjoy the journey to getting there.
HBD Savings: 683
16 HBD was sent to savings in the past 6 days. Although buying HIVE would be a great move while the price is cheap and it has more upside than the interest earned from the savings, I like how completely passive this is. Also, the 3-day lock-up period allows me to easily withdraw it in case a need arises.
Besides, the earnings from this are completely passive and they get compounded too. I don't even need to manually claim the interest. I have enabled the auto-claim on the Keychain to automatically claim them for me because I can be forgetful most times. It's a way to diversify a bit too.
So what about you? What's your take on staking and savings? Are you stacking liquid HIVE? I should do the same thing. It's good to see some movement in the price of our coin these few days :)
Happy HPUD and here's to a fantastic new month! All the best and cheers to whoever is celebrating his/her birthday this March!
