Back at the end of 2015, I started my own offshore fishing affiliate website. All the content on FishtFight.com is my own, as I have yet to hire or have anyone as a host blogger.
Disclaimer: FishtFight uses Google Analytics Universal Tracking Code.
FishtFight is a simple website that uses a free WordPress theme. It offers visitors mainly product reviews, with a small mix of instructional style posts.
Though it has yet to take off, I've added enough content that ranks well on search engines to pull in roughly three hundred visitors a day.
Using Amazon as an Affiliate and Google AdSense to monetize my content has been slow going. Still, it's built up to where modest earnings aren't rare anymore. Most months see some kind of a profit.
Hosting Through Wealthy Affiliate / Amazon Shared Hosting
Though it's shared, I've never had a problem with WA hosting. If the site ever gets a large amount of traffic, I'll need something better. WA runs me $49 per month. I could get a better annual rate.
Outside hosting could save me quite a bit per month. I don't use WA much these days but they do offer a valuable service for the cost.
FishtFight Amazon Earnings For July
As you might imagine, traffic has increased since the whole world went on lockdown. It's also Interesting to note that I added a good amount of content last year. It can take a long time for posts to rise up in Google search.
On top of that, the site typically sees more visitors during the summer months. Lately, I've been focused on HIVE and not posting at all on FishtFight.com. Perhaps doing these earnings analysis will motivate me into more content.
AdSense Smart Advertising
Using AdSense, it's possible to customize your own ads. I have it set so that Google optimizes the ads for my website. Earnings have grown since implementation, though it puts more clutter on my site. Ads also lead visitors off-site, which may not be the best thing.
Net Income For July
Take $80.70 from Amazon plus $33.45 from AdSense gives a gross of $114.15. An overhead of $49 means a net income of 65.15.
Income isn't the only benefit to having my own site as it also helps out with taxes. After subtracting the cost of $49, there was enough left over to transfer $35 to Coinbase! HAHA!! And another $30 for electricity.
So far, August appears to have slowed down compared to June and July. All it takes is a few good hits so you never do know. I'll keep these posts going once a month for my own record and for anyone who wants to check the progress.
Please don't hesitate to speak up with any questions or observations that come to mind.
Thanks as always for your attention and...
