In good times, in bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
Oh, that's what friends are for
~ Dionne Warwick
For the past days, I've been doing a lot of traveling. One of the best parts is getting to new places. While I'm visiting friends I've visited many times before, all of the have moved to another (place in the) city. This offers a lot of new experiences and keeps the creativity constantly flowing.
The view from the train. Cold but Sunny.
Visiting the Netherlands for me means visiting friends. Friends with kids. Friends that study. Friends that are climbing the corporate ladder. Friends that have started business. But most importantly, friends I've missed for a while, but when together, it's just like old times. Some things remain the same, some things have drastically changed.
A very drastic change for me. Staying off the alcohol. Because I'm still not fully healthy, I'm avoiding alcohol at all costs during this trip, which is boring, but still better than possible unexpected consequences.
One my close friends took me to very nice international student bar for some food and we ended up going through all different topics you can imagen, for politics to personal development, music to comedy and the discussion ended with a highlight reel of YouTube videos.
I was eyeing a steak. Which would be a solid foundation for a lengthy discussion.
As hard at it was for me to accept that I wouldn't get as much work done. I did need some time off and in some cases a fresh perspective on things. And that's what friends are for.

My personal twist:
For me the main focus will be on posting 4 things I did every day instead of 4 creative pushups.
