Flare Networks is working to implement smart contracts into the Litecoin blockchain. This feature introduces application and development capabilities similar to the features we know on the Ethereum blockchain.
Flare tweeted that Litecoin could obtain smart contracts through Flare Networks. Flare Networks says it will introduce the feature before its launch in Q2 2021. According to available information, this will allow Litecoin to be used on the Flare platform with "Ethereum-style smart contracts." Although Flare Networks has not yet specified what developers will be able to do with smart contracts, it is likely that developers on Litecoin will be able to create decentralized applications similar to dApps on ETH. Flare Networks also plans to reward Litecoin holders with an airdrop: the project will redistribute 5 billion FLR tokens from its own resources.
