Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a card named Immortalis when there is a Back to Basics ruleset.
Featured Card: Immortalis
Immortalis is an earth summoner card that costs 6 mana. This summoner reduces health by 1, grants all cards void and shatter. Leveling it further only increases the card level you can use. I currently have a level 2 version of this card so I can use cards up to the cap for Silver league. Each BCX of this card costs about $11.49 right now.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Back to Basics and Lost Legendaries. This means that all monsters lose their abilities and no legendary monsters can be used. There is also 48 mana available and I am left every splinter except for fire.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Immortalis | 6 | Summoner | -1 Health, void and shatter |
| Pelacor Mercenary | 7 | 1st | Tank |
| Centauri Mage | 7 | 2nd | Backup Tank |
| Mycelic Slipspawn | 9 | 3rd | Backup Tank |
| Regal Peryton | 5 | 4th | Fast magic monster |
| Beatrix Ironhand | 6 | 5th | Damage Dealer |
| Mitica Headhunter | 8 | 6th | Damage Dealer |
| Total Mana: | 48 |
My plan is just to have Pelacor Mercenary because of his Armor and health. Then I have two magic monsters with high health as my backup. My fourth card is Regal Peryton because I want to use it's fast speed to shatter any shield so that my ranged monsters can deal massive damage.
Round 1
At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have the stronger lineup because my opponent has focused on doing magic damage. This means that my summoner's void ability will reduce a lot of my opponent's damage. It's too bad there isn't any shield on my opponent's cards but it is fine.
Round 2
It's looking great for me because I haven't lost any cards but my opponent has already lost one of his cards.
Round 3
Me and my opponent traded a monster but it's looking better for me because I still have a high health magic monster left. At this point, my win is guaranteed and the speed difference is more likely to make me land my attacks.
As I expected I won and I didn't miss any attacks. My opponent just couldn't kill me fast enough due to my summoner.
Conclusion
The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The Immortalis summoner worked out great in this case because it reduced my enemies's health and the void ability was able to negate half of the magic damage that my opponent used. Also, my idea of having 3 high health tanks worked out as my ranged monster demolished my opponent. Also, I was using faster monsters compared to my opponent so that was another advantage I had over my opponent.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
