So yesterday I was thinking about engagement and of course how a lot of people fail to use it to reconnect when they of course come back to chain after a very long time. Hive is never stagnant; this means more dapps, more development, more opportunities, more developments and this would actually mean and even bigger need for adaptability.
In reality, a lot of people come and go simply because of things like price changes other do so because of major commitments in life. However or whatever reasons you'll need to be up to speed, be up and doing and once again engage again.

I use to know a big user who left the chain for whatever reason, and when he came back he began a massive unfollowing simply because he felt people aren't engaging with him anymore.
But then he took it the wrong way; first of, people are busy; hive itself is a challenge, it's a revolving structure and people who are trying to be part of the change are doing so while building. This will be in terms of content, their audience and their goals and as someone who has left and came back you will definitely need to join the mix.
In a decentralised chain despite who you are or how much stake you have it is engagement that brings you up to speed; people give engagement for many reasons and one of them is to build a closeness, a relationship beyond the monetary aspect. Feedbacks are awesome, it makes you improve, constructive criticism are important it makes you take a different approach.
I for one I love engagement and i love it when people profer exact engagements. I'm also someone who naturally would support goal driven people despite the fact that my stake is quite tiny. This means that making hive work is a collective effort.
I actually engage with people I can connect with, sometimes it goes beyond the content. But some people feel they are too big to give back engagement. They feel their status makes them entitled while a few of them only engages with their fellow big users. To me I look at the personality, the intent and the effort, then finally the content.
Our actions matters a lot. The people on hive is what makes hive what it is and even when I feel I cannot be too right I sometimes feel people should always change their approach towards engagement.
I use to evaluate the people i sometimes throw my tiny vote to, while I don't think their contents matter, I sometimes feel their attempts at getting better at everything is what matters the most. While the money is always the focal point, building something rigid is what cements one's position.
I often follow people because of their engagement level. This is because it means a lot to me. No one is however entitled to engagements and that is why I try to keep track of people who had made amazing impact of engagements. I like being countered, I like my point of view being changed and this makes me change my behaviour, almost everytime.
Truth is, engagement is what will move the chain up, sell it, different communities with different aim and this brings diverse change with the way people themselves will relate to the chain. My point is, engagement matters and as a chain keeps evolving and changing, we should adapt to the system and not rigid in our approach, this would make us make more exciting decisions, through engagement, we're influenced on many different lanes, content wise, we're better, more exposure and of course this would change us for the better.
