Hello everyone and welcome to the Saturday Savers Club. This is the Club's 4th year in existence. I have been a member for three years. We share ideas on Saturdays over on 's account.
This is only my opinion. I've read numerous posts about LeoFinance's new InLeo. The fee is 10 HBD per month in order to become an upgraded member. Last week I posted directly in this LeoFinance's new front-end, but did not upgrade.
The post I read in LeoFinance stated that one of the features for using InLeo is that you can using their front-end even if you aren't upgraded and will receive support for publishing your quality content there.
I did not notice any difference in posting from LeoFinance. Perhaps others received support once they paid the 10 HBD fee each month. The features highlighted in the upgraded InLeo are not ones that I particularly am in an urgent need for. Perhaps in the future, I can justify spending 10 HBD/mo for different features that I feel will benefit me in my daily journey in Hive. For the present, I prefer to publish my content from PeakD and then choose LeoFinance as the Community to post from.
Now, on to my February Saturday Savers Club report.
Some of the projects I intend to continue investing in for 2024 are Community based that yield daily, weekly, or monthly liquid Hive as dividends and/or tokens. For example:
- delegate hive power and LEO tokens to Communities and projects;
- leased Hive power to members;
- participate in
weekly drawings for the charity it manages,
.
- delegate to various curation accounts; and
- add to my liquidity pool positions.
- participate in the new EDSD Token which is HBD-backed.

SPECIAL SATURDAY SAVINGS CLUB NO-BUY MONTH CHALLENGE
The NO-BUY month started February 1st and continues through February 29, 2024. Everyone is welcome to join.
Here's how it works. You decide what you can or can't eliminate in your daily or weekly spending during the 29 days of February. You set your own rules for what is or isn't allowed to be purchased. Simple as that. Then publish your post. I previously participated in the Club's No-Buy Month. I decided to join in again this year's February event.
MY GOAL: Save 50% of normal monthly expenses.
Goal: Save $1,500.00
Actual Amount: Saved $TBD
Here's my breakdown:
| Expense | % of Monthly Budget | Dollar Amount Equivalent | Actual Spent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Household | 60% | $1800 | $TBD |
| Entertainment | 15% | $450 equivalent in monthly spending | $TBD |
| Investments | 10% | $300 in investments (including crypto) | $TBD |
| Savings | 10% | $300 in savings | $TBD |
| Other-Assistance | 5% | $150 in gifts | $TBD |
| Goal | Save 50% | $1,500 | $TBD |
| Actually Saved 32% | $TBD |
I've set my own rules about what I'm allowed to buy or not buy during the month.
ALLOWABLE EXPENSES:
- Food - dairy, bread, and fresh produce ONLY.
- Essential repairs or replacements.
- 1 takeout each week.
- Postage; travel and fuel.
In presenting my no-buy list, I note that pantry items, frozen food items and all essential toiletries and housekeeping replacement items have already been purchased as I keep a full pantry and stock for my immediate and extended family.
NO-BUY ITEMS:
The items below I feel that I can definitely do without for a month.
- No new financial or crypto investment, including silver, gold or other collectibles.
- No shop-bought non-essential sweets or other treats.
- No ceramic antiques, trading cards, comic or other books.
- No new clothing.
- No office or regular furniture.
- No household items.
- No new magazine or other subscriptions.
NOTES:
You have a budget. You plan. Then you see an advertisement for an item you think you can't live without or because an item is on sale. Marketers convince you that it's imperative you purchase it TODAY before the deadline or to take advantage of the free shipping.
Sounds familiar? Well, I've learned over the years to purchase on my timeline.
When it comes to dining out, I've discovered this about myself. It's out of habit, especially since I have two refrigerators and three freezers. Last year, I was horrified to discover that I had to toss expired items simply because I didn't rotate them. Having more than six month's worth of both frozen food and non-perishable pantry items, it's essential to rotate and use the older items next in line.
This all the hard knowledge I've acquired at my disposal and essential items already on hand, I'm ready to start my February No-Buy Month.
Good luck everyone with whatever your endeavors.
