I stumbled upon a very interesting tool today.
What would you think about 'taatooing' your digital content? (No, there is no typo here)
I saw a recent tool added in of the sites I am checking, Futurepedia.
Taatoo
What is taatoo?
Taatoo offers digital image protection by offering an invisible watermark on our images. This is powered by AI and it ensures that our photography will be respected and not resized, cropped, edited in any way. For now this is only possible for images but the team is probably working on videos and other forms of content.
What this watermark does, is adding hidden information in the image without those being visible to the naked eye or altering the photography. This ensures that the digital creator and their copyright information is well protected.
(At the moment I do have a question about it. What if someone steals a photo from me and adds this protection? Will I ever be able to prove that it was not his in the first place?)
There are a lot of questions to be answered and the only way is to test this (which I will do in a follow up post, let me know below if you have already done it and if you would be interested in this)
Pricing
What about its price?
As you understand it is not very expensive, but when it comes to a batch of images it could be costly.
I have not seen them offer any packages, but they are new, so I guess they probably will offer more options in the future.
Limitations
- Maximum size of 3mb
- Images only for now
NFTing or Taatooing?
I read the FAQs and found this question with reply
Is it like NFT ?
Thank's god no. NFT are using cryptography to add a "lock" on your image, when your image are beeing read (aka: unlocked), your image can be downloaded and replicated infinite times, Taatoo help you protect your images with pure "binary" manipulation without any cryptography needs
What are your thoughts on it? In just a second, they are cancelling cryptography as a way to protect one's digital rights! NFTs was a whole technological jump that happened and even thought it is not as hyped any more, it still exists and has found applications in a number of other fields.
