China Mobile's operating income in the first half of the year was RMB 389.9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.1%; net profit was RMB 55.77 billion, compared with RMB 56.06 billion in the same period last year, a year-on-year decrease of 0.5%. China Mobile’s interim dividend per share was HK$1.53.
In the first half of 2020, revenue from communications services reached 358.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.9%. On the basis of maintaining revenue growth in the first quarter, the revenue growth rate in the second quarter increased by 0.3 percentage points compared with the first quarter. The proportion of non-traditional communications business revenue increased by 1.4 percentage points to 16.2%, with a growth rate of 11.0%.
In the first half of the year, China Mobile seized the development opportunities of the government and enterprise markets and promoted the development of "Internet + Cloud + DICT". Data shows that DICT revenue reached RMB 20.9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 55.3%; mobile cloud revenue reached RMB 4.5 billion, an increase of 556.4%. In addition, the number of government and corporate customers reached 11.29 million in the first half of the year, a net increase of 1.01 million from the end of 2019.
The semi-annual report shows that as of the end of June 2020, China Mobile has 947 million mobile customers, including 760 million 4G customers and 70.2 million 5G package customers. The annual net increase of 5G package customers plans to exceed 100 million. In the first half of the year, mobile ARPU was RMB 50.3, a year-on-year decrease of 3.7%, and the rate of decline was further narrowed; mobile Internet DOU increased by 39.7% to 8.6GB.
As of the end of June 2020, China Mobile has opened a total of 188,000 5G base stations in more than 50 cities in China and provided commercial services. The realization of "5G on Mount Everest" and "5G underneath the deep mine" provides a communication guarantee for Mount Everest elevation measurement and intelligent coal mine management. China Mobile has raised the target for new 5G base stations this year from 250,000 to 300,000. It will provide commercial services in all prefecture-level and above cities across the country by the end of the year, and promote the commercialization of SA core networks within this year.
