Good day friends. If you've read my last two posts, you should be aware that, we are currently participating in a ccampaign on leofinance. The campaign is all about promotion Hive. Everything we do in the campaign are intended to bring masses to Hive chain by leveraging the various web 2 platforms especially, X (formally twitter).
As part of this campaign, I tried onboarding my brother (Abdul-Malik) on Hive through the LeoInfra feature in leofinance.
Let me explain the LeoInfra briefly before proceeding to describe the process I underwent during the onboarding.
If you're developer, there is a higher chance that you've heard about Open Authentication (Oauth) in short. It is basically a way of authenticating users to access a web service by leveraging the authentication process of popular platforms like X, Apple,Google, Facebook and more. Instead of the user logging in with their credentials, they can easily login via these platforms.
The LeoInfra feature intend to use Oauth but in a fascinating way. Users can use X or Google to register their Hive accounts instead of going through the normal Hive sign up process. After registration, Hive will automatically generate the keys for that account. This is a very simple way of sign up which can be done by just three clicks.
I was expecting the Hive keys to be generated upon signing up, but it wasn't generated. Maybe it's because the feature is still developing.
The process I went through during the sign up of my brother can be seen in the video above which I recorded along the way.
The process is short and simple.
In the first place, opened leofinance.io where I clicked on sign up.
The next step was about choosing the sign up method. I choose to sign up with Google.
After choosing the sign-up method, I had to choose a username. I entered the username as as chosen my brother.
I was then redirected to select the Google account I will use. After selecting the account, I then authorised the sign-up process and was redirected to the welcome page.
When I checked the logs on the console through the developer tools, several errors were logged. I also saw a log on the console similar to a JWT access token. For security reasons, I can't share the JWT token buy the image below shows some of the errors in the console.
After successful registration, the keys were not generated. I tried a couple of things like posting a thread with the new account and editing. The thread was not shown on chain even though it appeared among the threads in the feed.
I tried logging in with the account and it was successful even though no posting keys was generated yet.
This is basically my experience through signing up a Hive account via the leoinfra feature. Some of the challenges faced was
- No Hive keys was generated
- The follow up email warning about the malware access
- A suspicious log on the console similar to access token
- Not able to post a thread or update profile.
It was a smooth experience and I hope to developer team working on the shortcomings.
Thank you for reading.
