What fundamental mistakes lead me to these results is what I am here to discuss today cause after upload over 1k videos on the YouTube platform spanning over a period of well over 12 years I am in the best position to identify those miscalculations.
Here are the “9 Basic Mistakes That I Learned After Uploading Content On YouTube For Well Over A Decade”:
Don't simply just stick to a niche
When you are setting up your blog for Google's AdSense approval after reading the guidelines google clearly wants your blog to be for a specific niche. Many people do not realize that the very same principle applies to YouTube as well. But it does not stop there if you are in vast niches like education or how-to & style you need still need to narrow down on specific topics under these subjects.
The example I can give is if you are a cooking channel you simply make food related videos however if you decide to make a video about cryptocurrency all of a sudden create a separate channel for your self there is nothing you can do about this as it is part of being in the YouTube algorithm.
My channel is currently in the How-to & style niche but my mistake is that it that under this niche I have separate topics like for example Reddit tutorials, YouTube tutorials, Medium How-to And Crypto Guides. It would have been better for me to create entirely separate YouTube channels for these topics in it’s entirety even though the parent subject matter is correct they do all come under the How-To & style niche but YouTube prefers even more specificity in their search and discovery algorithm that is some thing which might be very difficult to fathom but it is a fact you cannot afford to ignore.
Lets dive into an example of a YouTube channel who creates content on a specific niche over and over again:

As you might have noticed
Zulie Rane is creating videos under the niche of “Writing and blogging” consistently. Right now she has amassed over 1.2 million plus views but in one of her recent articles she mentioned she has amassed an overall earnings over over 13.1 k dollars which is a lot and the reason she is getting paid so highly is because YouTube has assigned her with high CPM (Cost Per Mile) ad rates on her videos.

Google advertisers love it when a YouTube channel is under one specific niche and they pay more money for ads for that channel.
Relevancy Is they Key for High Click Through Rates Not Click Bait
When you are thinking about a viral YouTube video of course the first thing that comes into your mind is that it must have an appealing thumbnail and an engaging title. Yes this is true however click bait is not the answer and the reason for this is simple yes people will click on your video but if your content is not relevant they will not give you the audience retention hence you will be given negative markings in the YouTube algorithm.
Do Not Think That Uploading Daily Will Make Your Channel Succeed
Uploading consistently is a good habit however it is not a guaranteed success on the YouTube platform. You can opt for one single video per month and still succeed on the YouTube platform. The biggest example of this is that of the current poster boy of YouTube Mr. Beast as he uploads twice a month.
If Your Audience Is Not Engaging With Your Content Then You Are A 100 Percent Failure On YouTube

Very harsh but true; your audience if they do not wish to interact with your videos in any way or form like likes, shares and comments then the YouTube algorithm will never promote your content and even by sharing to social media sites to get more outreach nothing will give your YouTube channel the boost it desperately needs. So interact with your audience by replying to comments, creating community posts and doing live streams.
Consciously Check For Policy Updates From YouTube Them Selves Other Wise You Will Get Your YouTube Channel Penalized
When your blog is Google AdSense approved you still check the guidelines over and over again so that you might not make a mistake of getting disqualified from the AdSense program well do the same for YouTube as well cause believe me it is not easy to keep up with the updated YouTube policies as they are constantly changing. Failure to do so will result in penalties in the form of YouTube channel suspension or Demonetization.
Choose Ever Green Content Over Seasonal Content
Ever Green content gives you views consistently for a very very long period of time and should be your main focus. Seasonal content might give you a limited boost but it is not a sustainable model in the long run.
Tell Your YouTube Audience To Support You
A lot of YouTubers feel shy asking there audience to give them monetary benefits. This is a totally wrong approach because you are cutting your self from other forms of revenue streams. Ask your audience to join your patreon or buy me a coffee. Tell your audience to sign up to your email newsletter and buy your merchandise. Asking your audience means you have created such a brand loyalty that you know your audience are willing to support you in as many ways as possibly can.
Convert Your Viewers Into Your Audience
Seems pretty boring and generic but it is something you should do every time you create a YouTube video you should ask your viewers to simply subscribe to your YouTube channel and also press that bell notification bell because not doing so will result in non conversions of viewers to audience. This is your basic funnel so treat it as a primary task in your to do list.
Sharing Your YouTube To Relevant Audience On Other Social Media Platforms Will x10 Increase Your Viewership
If you are creating YouTube videos on Artificial Intelligence simply share these on relevant subreddits, Facebook groups, LinkedIn groups, Quora Spaces and even relevant email list. What this will do is automatically boost your views and earn you subscribers in no time what so ever.
Conclusion
Ignoring the YouTube platform is the biggest mistake any content creator can make because it has well over 2 billion active monthly users. So do not waste your opportunity to find a new audience.
