In some places, today is Groundhog Day. Did BTC, ETH, LTC, HBD, HIVE, or CUB see something and turn away to close lower today? In this edition of "Closing Prices for Some Cryptos," we shall see which cryptos kept moving forward and which ones turned around to retreat. Additionally, coverage of the first Hive Project, hive.ausbit.dev, continues for 4 more posts after this one. This post will show the closing prices for some cryptos as of 2022 February 2.

This is the reason for this post!
| Crypto | USD (Previous) | 2 February 2022 | 24h Trend | Streak[*] |

[*] = Now that streaks are getting longer to display-- especially a series of short streaks, I decided to use the following shorthand:
w = 1 Win w
W = 5w = wwwww
! = 2W = WW = wwwwwwwwww
--> (Wins are EXCELLENT!!)
l = 1 Loss
L = 5l = lllll
? = 2L = LL = llllllllll
--> (Loss? Why, crypto, WHY??)
u = 1 UNCHANGED
U = 5u = uuuuu
- = 2U = UU = uuuuuuuuuu
a = L1W1L1W1 -- alternating streak starting with L
A = W1L1W1L1 -- alternating streak starting with W

Losers (Closed Lower)
2 February 2022 marks the first time during the "Closing Prices for Some Cryptos" series in which all 6 cryptos closed lower. This is how the streaks at the end of Ground Hog Day 2022:
- BTC -- closed with an
lafter 2 straightws, and during the course of this series closed higher 6 times out of 9 sessions. At this point, BTC is averaging 2wfor ever 1l. - ETH -- closed with an
lafter 5 straightws. Over the last 9 sessions, ETH has 7ws (including the covetedWrepresenting 5ws). - LTC -- closed with an
lafter 2ws. LTS has has a tougher time than BTC and ETH, but it has a winning record with 5ws against 4ls. - HBD -- closed with its 2nd consecutive
l. Although its streak looks different from that of LTC, its W-L record after 9 sessions is the same at 5-4. - HIVE -- closed with 1
land its 3rd in 4 sessions after winning the coveredWindicating 5 straightws. The overall W-L record for HIVE is the same as that for BTC, which is a good sign for now. - CUB -- closed with a 2nd consecutive
land its 3rd in 4 sessions. After fighting to earn aufor UNCHANGED earlier in the streak, CUB has an even record with 4ws, 4ls, and 1u. Today'slreally hurts with the lowest CUB price since this series started.
Why Those Cryptos?
Bitcoin and Ethereum
BTC and ETH hold their combined market dominance at 57.2%. For a long time and into the forseeable future, BTC dominates ETH by more than 2 to 1.
HIVE and Hive-Based Dollar
Between the insane price of BTC and the Gas Fees afflicting ETH (and now spreading to ETH Layer 2 cryptos such as Polygon), it looks as if these will become the cryptocurrencies of choice within the institutional investor class (not to mention a few governments).
Like DOGE, HIVE is a cryptocurrency for the rest of us. Unlike DOGE, HIVE continues to fly under the radar despite the 2021Q4 series of pumps and dumps from South Korean cryptocurrency traders. The time to stack HIVE-- or "HIVE+", which is HIVE plus its Layer 2 tokens hosted at Hive Engine-- is now.
While HIVE is not as widely available as DOGE, enough exchanges list HIVE that we can buy them and perhaps take advantage of arbitrage opportunities when they present themselves.
HBD is the companion stablecoin to both liquid HIVE and Hive Power (i.e., staked HIVE).
Cub Finance
Yesterday I asked
Will CUB crash through the 0.240 floor, or will it string enough
ws to return to the 0.374 price it at the first closing of 2022?
Sadly, CUB crashed through that floor or support level. On the bright side, it's providing Hivers new to the world of decentralized finance-- DeFi-- opportunities to fill their bag quicker or to stack CUB tokens at a faster pace.
If HIVE was a steal in early 2021, CUB is a steal right now in 2022. The sale on CUB continues, so buy CUB while supplies last!
Litecoin
Today I took a look at the Litecoin section of Unblokkt.com. These 4 articles topped the list for Litecoin news:
- 2022-02-02 -- Litecoin founder explains why MimbleWimble’s privacy won’t help criminals
- 2022-01-31 -- Litecoin’s long-anticipated MWEB Upgrade is released
- 2022-01-20 -- Why Litecoin Could Ultimately Benefit From Bitcoin’s Success
- 2022-01-20 -- Litecoin Lights Up Twitter With Verified Blue Tick Badge
Litecoin flies under the radar, just like Hive only at a higher level.

| Not including BTC and ETH, not every crypto is covered by any news source every day. For example, one source may have LTC news on Monday and Wednesday, another would have it on Tuesday and Friday. I'm looking for FUD-free news sources for BTC, ETH, LTC, HBD, HIVE, and CUB. I may actually have an easier time finding sources for the first 3 than for the last 3. Ideally the news would be intraday in order to explain why a crypto went up or down during a 24-hour period; not technical analysys, but somews which came out to cause the rise or fall in prices. If anyone can recommend news sources which are good specifically for these cryptos, please let me know in the comments. |
Something To Read Besides a Table
I'm looking for news sources I can use for the 6 cryptos covered here. Except for BTC, and probably ETH, no news source covers a crypto daily. So I'm looking for enough news sources to fill each day of the week. It will be a while before I find these news sources, and it may be longer since I seek FUD-free news sources (so no Bloomberg, no CNBC, etc.). I'll figure it out eventually, but I would be grateful for any suggestions made in the comments.
Hive has 156 dApps in various stages of developmen for the Hive platform. I thought it would be a good idea to stay in-house and promote our own offerings. Since this series is devoted to closing prices for some cryptos (with Litecoin replacing EOS), the natural first dApp to cover is hive.ausbit.dev by "@"ausbitbank.
Today's Bit about hive.ausbit.dev
The last post covered the Site Source menu item from the hamburger menu control. Today's post covers a group of 3 menu items focused on commication off the blockchain:
Below is a composite graphic showing the menu and the scree captures for Discord, Telegram, and OpenHive.chat in separate tabs or windows:
Click the image for a full-size view
Notice that the URL for Discord differs between what's in the hamburger menu control and what appears in the tab/window for Discord. The Hive-native link shortener MyHive.li was used here.
As for OpenHive.chat, I don't have an explanation for why I can't connect to it from hive.ausbit.dev or from a search engine results page. If anyone knows what the situation is with OpenHive.chat, please let me know in the comments.
The next post takes a look at the set of menu items for the general front-ends: PeakD and Hive.Blog.
Just My Two Sats
Today was the first time all 6 cryptocurrencies had losing closings. I want to say that it was becasue it was Groundhog Day in my area, but that's too easy. On the bright side, all 5 out of the 6 cryptocurrencies tracked here by closing price have winning records. The lone exception is CUB, and it's record is even thanks to one closing which went UNCHANGED (4-4-1).
Links to news looks to be the way I will go with the additional content I will include here. Not every crypto has news each day, and different news sources post news on their own schedules. For now, I will find enough news sources t be able to have links for each day for each cryprto. BTW-- the news sources need to be FUD-free, so that can take a while longer.
The next couple of posts will consolidate menu items for hive.ausbit.dev for the post viewers PeakD and Hive.Blog. After that, it's two final menu items in their own dedicated posts. I still considering which Hive Project will be the second I cover after the series for hive.ausbit.dev concludes.
