The euro is close to achieving parity with the US dollar. The currency of the European Union has lost strength against the US dollar due to the particular situation in which Europe is at this point. Inflation is high because of high energy costs and this is going most likely to end in a severe recession.

Another fact adding to this situation is the one that there are more rate hikes planned by the Federal Reserve in the US, this will strengthen the dollar.
