A new solar cell converts 32.5% ofincident solar radiation into electrical energy. This is the tandem solar cell consisting of a silicon bottom cell and a perovskite top cell.
Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB) researchers developed this tandem solar cell and the enrgy conversion has been certified by the certifying institute European Solar Test Installation (ESTI) in Italy.
The mass production of this type of cell (solar panels) will considerably reduce the number the panels (and overall price) needed for a particular goal.
