Iran is signing a free-trade agreement (FTA) with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) on January 18, 2023. The EEU, based on the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus, was created in 2015. Armenia and Kyrgyzstan subsequently joined. In 2016, Vietnam became a non-regional country free-trade partner of the EEU.
What this means is that the economic sanctions applied to Iran are largely a western phenomenon.
