In March 2023, 100 million Americans will be enrolled in Medicaid. This means that close to one third of the US population is beneficiary of a government welfare program. Medicaid is a program who helps people under certain level of income achieve health insurance.
This illustrates the wide gap in income in the US. Also illustrates how certain COVID-19 related policies made the enrollment process achievable for millions, but this may also mean that once those policies end, there may be millions without health insurance and without a good paying job.
