Netflix has recently portrayed Anna Sorokin in the TV series Inventing Anna as a clever young entrepreneur lady who managed to live what appears to be a dream life for so many girls nowadays. However, the dream didn't last too much and it finally ended with her in prison. Although the TV series succeeded in catching many interesting sides of her story, let's go beyond the character and take a closer look at the real Anna and her business background and activity.
THE BUSINESS PLAN
Anna wanted to open ''Anna Delvey Foundation'', an art foundation with private members' club which has never really seen the light even though she constantly tried to obtain funds from rich members of the community. Her plan was ambitious, given that she wanted to lease the large building - Church Missions House - and convert it into various kinds of events spot and art studio, including a visual arts center and pop-up shops. Prestigious names have supported her in some way during this journey.
THE FINALE RESULT
PRISON
---
Grand larceny
Second-degree larceny
Theft of services
What is striking about Anna is her personality - a mixture between a child and a visionary businesswoman. Although an intelligent female, Anna was not able to truly anticipate the consequences of her actions while living her dream.
Being an important person in the eyes of others and making an apparition can be much harder to pursue than just being yourself.
In her early 20s, Ana is considered to be somehow entitled to such mistakes - some would say. Let's just think for a moment...what does the society and business surroundings truly teach the youngest of us? I guess it teaches us that you need money and looks in order to succeed, that successful/ earning businesses are not necessarily legal, and that dreaming our business dreams will definitely take us on the top.
So, which could be some differences between those who succeed in the long run and those who don't...I think we can mention here what was Anna missing...taking the easy and illegal way, spending money excessively instead of investing, dreaming too much, and acting too little...
