I hope that just from the title, you can guess where I'm coming from here. I won't say I don't appreciate Musk, but to put him on a pedestal is just plain stupid.
Human Worshiping
One thing is to admire someone, to believe that someone's contribution to the world is worthy. In that sense, I do look at Elon as someone who has contributed greatly to science. He's by no means someone who's invented anything new (research this if you think otherwise), but without a doubt someone that through his relentlessness has moved the overture window.
The line, in my opinion, is drawn right there. I don't have to believe he is the one to lead us into a better tomorrow, to accept his contributions to society. In other words, we don't have to see him as a supreme leader of thought at all.
The bashing
Ever since his tweets, his uninformed tweets, there's been countless of people who have been trashing him for being "stupid". This, in my opinion shows the ugliest face of tribalism, and it proves how early in the game we truly are.
Is it not possible for Elon to be correct? It's unlikely, but it's not impossible. It seems more likely to those of us who've done the homework, that he's fallen for some debunked FUD head on. Which is why, the bashing is not going to "fix it" so to speak.
Up to a point, Who cares?
Did bitcoin, and it's descendants need permission to exist? permission to thrive? Is it not the case that with every passing year, more no-coiners, as we call them, realize they've robbed themselves of the opportunity of a lifetime?
The point is that Elon or any other celebrity, at this point, could come out tomorrow and call everything dumb, unscalable and bad for the environment. If said person was wrong, actually wrong, would it make a difference in the long wrong?
Before you join the "Let's bash Elon" movement online, you should ask yourself. Should you not be doing something a little more productive? Maybe.... or Maybe that's all some of us got.
