Hello Hive
In the past i have viewed Emergencies as accidents that occurs suddenly when we neither plan or are ready to receive them, often times we see them as accidents, something fatal or when someone collapse or suddenly falls ills and a serious health challenge.
But after going through some series of experiences this period, I believe that giving the definition of emergencies some more touch is a bit important
Someone's emergency might just be a lack of finance to pay his house rent. Imagine when accidentally there is no money to pay your rent and the landlord throws out your personal belongings into the open space and you suddenly becomes homeless.
In Nigeria most Landlords only gives you a grace period of one extra month aside your rents due date to pay up your bills and when you are unable to pay, there is no mercy no matter how much you plead, you get thrown out of the house.
Another emergency might just be a loss of your mobile phone. And with the recent computer age losing ones phone can be very drastic making anyone go crazy, especially if the mobile phone is holds your source of income for those using the internet, having online Jobs to do.
No one can afford the loss of his mobile phone or even a damage to it in this age and time.
Emergencies in definition should not only remain as an accident something fatal or bloody, for better understand and from personal experiences emergency should be seen as anything that happens suddenly and that needs your urgent financial interventions.
Personally I have two emergencies at hand.
I needed a roof over my head and the entire family as the landlord in charge of our house has sold out the building/property we currently live in.
The house is in a poor condition and renovation is actually impossible since it is a building over hundred years old. A demolition is necessary in order to erect a modern structure on the land. Through the help of my hive payouts I have been able to rent an apartment for myself.
Having crashed into my hive savings you may have noticed that I have done a lot of withdrawals lately. With the current price of hive I had to sell as much to meet up with the rent fee of almost 200k and needed to buy other convenient items into the house to make it livable.
With the hope that daddy will sort himself and my other siblings to another house more closer to their schools, that has failed too, he is unable to achieve that and the plans to get them some finance to rent a place now rest on me.
I have witnessed people been chased out of their homes and wouldn't want to see a bulldozer on roofs before taking that urgent actions.
Pardon me if I have transacted alot of hive recently but as it stands now hive has stood in for me as an emergency fund and I can be no less grateful.
Let me end this here, you will hear about the other funny but yet urgent emergency need in a next blog.
