Here is simply a short illustration of a code of conduct on Hive and how they can help create a healthy relationship between Hivers.
There was a proposal for a code of conduct proposed by @Zuerich around a year ago here on Hive.
I’ll be starting with three focus discussions about Hive itself.
Here are three focus points of what Hive is, and can be, if we keep building the ecosystem.
Hive is an open, decentralized platform that allows for sharing ideas, art, music and civil discourse.
Hive is unrestricted to all.
Here on Hive, we have gamers, coders, writers, artists, and investors all co-existing, communicating and relating with one another through their ideas, art, and any creative activity each user is involved with.
Not only that, but It's also possible to come here on Hive today and start building something that serves the community.
The decentralized part of it splits into different categories, which is due to the type of blockchain that hive is. On Hive blockchain, being decentralised applies not only to the free speech and censorship resistance ability but also to the decentralised system of making decisions that involve voting for witnesses and proposals by each user on the platform.
Here, the community makes the decisions and is welcome to propose how things should run.
The community gets to decide which proposal they think is worth their vote.
Unlike Facebook and other social media, Hive promotes free speech and allows everyone to add their 2 cents to the conversations, no matter how contradicting they may be to another party.
Diverse opinions undeniably exist here, and you don't have to bend the knee to anyone to use any features or join any community or even “circle” like some would like to call it.
Hive is an antithesis of centralized “social media” such as Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
Unlike these above platforms, Hive is decentralised and on the other side of the spectrum of social media apps.
Social Media is for communicating and reaching out to people we can't reach instantly.
Even though we can't touch physically on social media, we can interact with one another no matter which jurisdiction or nation-state we reside in.
But when the platform starts deciding who you can talk to( determined by your jurisdiction)and what you can see on your page, then it's not offering the social animals the whole share of the cake.
Same with the monetary rewards, all of this is what makes Hive an antithesis of web2 social media because, on Hive, you are free to communicate with whoever is available to interact with, no matter where he resides in.
Hive is a great advancement of social media and is still in its infancy. Thus, we should continuously enhance technology around Hive, improve the quality of content on Hive, and strengthen behavioural norms for Hive.
It is vital to discuss this. Because as of writing this post, Hive is just Three years old.
Compared to other social media platforms, Hive is a drop in the big ocean of social media apps.
Even though numerous things are being built here on Hive, we still need to keep innovating Hive’s social media standpoint.
Then we can compete and beat every centralised and decentralised social media vying with Hve.
For example, threads, I would say, is one of those technological innovations built around Hive and should be able to put Hive on the map of short-form content.
It might not be the best short-form content medium out there, but I think inventions like threads, spl, speak network and psyberx will shape Hive incredibly.
Some see short content as low value, but that depends on who's making them.
I have indeed seen some short-form content with loads of information, and also nicely understandable compared to a 1000-word blog post.
So instead of saying something is unsatisfactory to our taste, why not embrace the technology that we have today?
With time, all that exists will keep improving and grow into something big and attractive to a vast audience.
Both long and short-form posts matter on Hive, and I think people will understand that soon, to get Hive to where we want it to be, we need to keep promoting every creation built around it.
SPL is another one of those innovations built around Hive that you won't want to miss out on.
Some like to focus on the rewards, but it'll be better to focus on the technology first, especially during its early days, and remember that Hive is just around three(3) years old. Imagine what could happen in 30 years.
Hive definitely won't be the same again, and everyone actively participating in what is created will reap the rewards.
To end it all, here are the 10 codes of conduct on how we can help create a healthy environment around Hive blockchain.
Even if we have the best technology, like we have AI now, the outcome relies on the prompts it's given. The same goes for the human in us, we need some guidance and prompts on how to help make our experience on the Hive blockchain and in life in general outstanding.
10 Hive Code of Conduct as proposed by here
- We value each other and treat each other in a perspective and appreciative manner.
- We stay calm and polite, always.
- We use Hive to build connections and a thriving community.
- We embrace diversity concerning ethnicity, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, nationality, disabilities, political views etc.
- We are curious and open to civil discourse, thus using our differences to get new insights and making out differences become our strength.
- We read others' statements carefully, don't engage in trolling, strawman arguments, or other psediarguments, and we differ between fact and opinion.
- We don't plagiarise but publish original content, with reference to sources.
- We defend the principle of media freedom and the freedom of expression.
- We take responsibility got our own actions, excercise due diligence when using our private keys and when posting content.
- We help each other grow and connect within the complex ecosystem of Hive.
If all the above can be instilled into our daily Hive activities, then we as a community are one step closer to making Hive one of the best social media to ever exist.
Just as Zuerich first said in the contest post. We are to make a SmartArt illustration. I wasn't going to do the art but then, it also won't hurt to give it a try.
That was how I downloaded Canva and make sure my creative side works something out.
And here is the outcome below. I hope it's not so bad.
