This week has to be the most active in the Cosmos community in terms of activity levels within an eco-system. Three major chains have been upgraded, four completely new chains have been launched, two airdrops have been claimed, and three more have been announced. Even though it's only Thursday!
Upgrades:
-VEGA upgrade for Cosmos ATOM.
The following were the primary components of this upgrade:
-Fee Grant module allows you to pay fees on another account's behalf.
-Governance voting on behalf of another account is possible using the Authz module.
-An IBC router is being added to the hub.
-There are a few other upgrades to pieces that are going on behind the scenes.
As far as I can see, this is a somewhat low-profile upgrade, with the IBC router likely to be the most significant change. This means that instead of requiring linkages between each individual chain, chains can just connect to the hub, and IBC traffic can then be multi-hopped across the hub. If extensively adopted, it might save a lot of infrastructure duplication and, once a fee for IBC transfers is imposed, it could be a source of revenue for ATOM holders and validators.
-OSMO and ION that were not claimed during the airdrop were clawed back and returned to the community pool.
-Install the Authz module as described previously.
-Processes at the IBC have been improved.
-Allows validators to receive TX fees in any token listed with an OSMO pair (currently at 0 gas cost, but this is likely to change at some time).
The massive ticket object right here is the "claw back" of unclaimed airdrops. The airdrop was once continually set with a decay to the quantity claimable, and an eventual quit date. Now, that time has come and the unclaimed airdrops have been back to the neighborhood pool. The TX price alternate is interesting, and seems to indicate that an quit to "free gas" TX's may be coming. I have now not heard some thing concrete about that yet, but adding this module in at this time might indicate that fuel fees are coming.
JUNO: MONETA upgrade.
Likely the most significant of the upgrades:
Enables Smart contracts via CosmWasm.
Smart contracts are the killer function for JUNO, and having the ability to launch contracts and dApps, with IBC connections to all the other Cosmos chains is enticing. It is in all likelihood that that upgrade time will end up a photograph for future airdrops, as passed off when Cosmos first enabled IBC back in February. Already, the first task is out of the gates, announcing an airdrop of NETA on Jan 1 2022, based on the Moneta snapshot. It is in all likelihood to not be the last. This upgrade brings clever contracts of all sorts, NFT's and all kinds of other probabilities to the Cosmos eco-system.
Chain Launches.
Gravity Bridge
The long awaited launch of the gravity bridge has arrived - well the chain has anyway. After some dispute within the community over the bridge launching as a separate chain, instead than on the Cosmos hub itself, the new chain has come to life. A Gravity Bridge module is nevertheless slated to be delivered to the hub, however it remains to see whether or not that will appear or if the Cosmos hub will be given a separate chain. Anyway, this launch brings the plenty predicted bridge between the Cosmos eco-system and Ethereum. An airdrop will come at some point quickly for ATOM holders of the new GRAV token. Building the front end, and wallet integrations is now the focal point of the crew behind Gravity bridge.
LUM network.
The LUM chain is alive and the LUM airdrop is now claimable. The airdrop is claimable at this link. With some actions required to impervious the drop. Staking rewards are excessive at the moment, over a hundred percent APR. The declare manner is a bit difficult at first glance, with some unique amounts displaying as vested - but you can stake these vested amounts. We are also waiting for a governance proposal to be live, which lets in unlocking the final airdrop. Lum seems to be targeting a enterprise use case, as a rewards token of sorts, among other uses. There are two apps currently on the LUM website.
*Lumki - a rewards app offering LUM "cashback" for purchases through partner businesses
*Skeepers - a review website.
I'll cover LUM in more detail in the coming days, and update my Cosmos Airdrops post with all the details soon.
DIG chain
Dig chain's aim is to be a father or mother chain for tokenized real estate investments, with sub-chains launched to comply with neighborhood regulations. Being developed by means of Notional DAO - a validator on severa Cosmos chains and one of the Eco-system's biggest IBC re-layer networks. This is a undertaking I will seem into extra in the future.
Chihuahua chain.
A new Meme dog coin has arrived in the Cosmos. HUAHUA is now live, as its own chain with an airdrop of course. This airdrop is for delegators to the chihuahua validator on JUNO (1 million HUAHUA) or stakers of OSMO. You will get the JUNO drop only if eleven or greater JUNO used to be staked at the snapshot, to keep away from multi wallet drop farming that has occurred. I've considered in feedback that a drop for ATOM stakers can also come, but no details. As the self-described "Useless Meme coin for Cosmos" it will be fascinating to see if this interesting project takes off like different "Useless Meme coin's". Woof.
Airdrops.
As noted above, the LUM token airdrop is now stay and available, with some movements required. Check the Lum community wallet and add to Keplr or ledger to claim.
Chihuahua is additionally handy for those that have qualified. There has been a worm for the OSMO stakers element which the crew are working on. Connect your ledger to Omniflix and add the chain to see if you have qualified, claim and stake.
GRAV airdrop for ATOM stakers announced, but no important points but that I have seen.
Also NETA airdrop for JUNO stakers announced, again with no details.
Newsflash, an Airdrop for EVMOS has been announced also. Calling it a "REKT drop" the airdrop is targeting humans based totally on GAS prices on ETH, some rug-pulls, alongside with the common suspects of ATOM and OSMO participants. More small print to follow.
I'll update my specific airdrop guide in the coming days.
So a good deal going on in the Cosmos this week, its been challenging to hold up. I think about that validators with operations on more than one chains will want a lie down.
Which of the above is the most important update for the future of the Cosmos eco-system do you think? Let me understand in the feedback section.
Cheers
