Look Before You Leap: Before You Resign Ensure You Hold Onto Something Else.
I always laugh when I read or hear people say that they resigned from their jobs without having anything else to do that will sustain them in the meantime. Recently I read somewhere about a friend who resigned from his job to face his online career. As beautiful as it may seem, it is also nonsensical for him to resign from his work when he has not first established himself in the online career he wishes to pursue. Online jobs are one of the most lucrative jobs in the world today. It has many advantages over some offline jobs and businesses. An example is that it gives a person the leverage to control his finances and time to do other things. It is also flexible hence making it interesting to engage in the job. As beautiful as it looks, it is risky to fully depend on remote jobs for survival when you have yet to find your foot. A lot of people earning from remote jobs today started quite a long time ago and over time, they were able to find their footing and get jobs consistently and earn consistently too. A remote job is not a thing you start today and expect to earn consistently from it.
The right approach to begin an online job is to start as a side job while still doing your main job. As time goes by, when you realize that your online side work is enough to take good care of your bills then you can easily resign from the job and focus on the remote job. With this transitioning to a new job and lifestyle will not be a difficult task and you won't also have difficulty in paying your bills. Outside this, you might have difficulties in your financial life and you might end up living in regrets for the rest of your life.
As multifaceted and multidimensional as the Internet is, making money from it consistently is not an easy task, it requires skills, consistency, and hard work. Moreover, it requires your money to buy data to access the Internet. So one needs to build himself up first before thinking of transitioning full-time into remote and online jobs. No matter how porous, the offline job might be, stay put there while doing side-by-side with the remote job. After you have gained mastery and you're sure of consistent earnings from the remote job then, it becomes the right time to resign from the offline jobs or businesses.
However, you may not even need to resign from your job to be able to do online jobs. It is called a remote job because you can do it in your free time. Most online jobs are flexible hence they may not interfere with your other jobs. One shouldn't depend on a source of income. Having many sources will save you from so many financial burdens. Instead of thinking of resigning, why not see how you can do the two jobs side by side? Unless the offline job is toxic and detrimental to your wellness, then you can think otherwise.
