Reward cards are dirt cheap in the game.
Why wouldn't they be?
The team give out thousands a day for free so how could you get much money for them.
I mean, look at these cheap common golds for under 0.50c. People are selling them as fast as they are earning them.
Prices have dropped all the way down to these levels since day one of their release.
Why would anybody pay big money for these free cards?
Not like these other cards worth between $10 - $20.
These other free reward cards that were given out for playing the game.
Oh wait. These are worth 20x the other similar rewards.
How does that happen.
Time and scarcity.
Simple but effective.
I love all of the cheap reward cards on the market and have been stacking them in a spare account every week. They will never be this cheap again.
Now I don't expect them to reach the same levels as these earliest cards due to the large amount of options to play with now and the fact that the print run is much larger than the older versions but I do expect all of these cards to go up in value. Probably 4x to 10x over the next couple of years if the game is still going strong.
When they run out of print then it just becomes a matter of supply and demand.
There is no more supply but the demand will be there.
People who want more options for their deck.
People who want to merge for more powerful cards.
People looking for cheap options to stake for land.
They will be trying to pick up the cheaper cards.
The cheapest legendary card on the market is currently harclaw at 84c or maxed out at $9.24.
Compare that to the next cheapest card outside of current rewards which is Iza at 294c or $32.34 almost 3x more for a chaos card.
I'm not sure how land is going to work but it is going to involve staking cards to craft spells.
People are going to want the cheapest cards possible for this which are the current reward cards.
That means supply is going to go down and demand will go up.
I know that there are a lot of these cards out there at the moment but that won't last forever.
Once the print runs out on all of these cards the prices will keep creeping up.
My favorite card in the deck was a reward that i got for free and look at it now.
$100 and I'm not selling. There are less than 2,000 of them and i use it in nearly every single battle.
If i had been smarter I would have bought 100 of them at $2 which they were going for at the time. And lots of them on the market.
Prices now are no reflection of prices in two years time.
Scarcity plays a huge part in the splinterlands economy and while the latest reward cards will never be truly scarce, the supply will keep reducing once the print runs out.
When that happens i hope to have stacked up thousands of reward cards from playing and from buying to make a nice profit.
It's happened with every single reward card to date and should do the exact same with these ones too.
We wouldn't turn down a 2x on any of our crypto investments and yet people are willing to sell all of their assets at floor prices instead of having the patience to let the values rise.
Try for yourself.
If you haven't played the game before then now is the best time to join. Today is much better than tomorrow and a lot better than later.
Cards worth a few cents now will have a much higher value in the future as the print runs out. We have a strong community and seen this happen every time as it grows with the game.
