What would i like to achieve on Hive next year?
This is a simple question and ne that is asked by the hiveblocks team for xmas. They have a post on twitter looking for your hive goals 2022.
Feel free to join the challenge. I will do it for a bit of fun and see where my thoughts go to.
I will have to break this post into three separate goals. Three separate areas which all tie into one big new years wish.
- Personal.
- Community.
- Development.
Personal goals.
This is an easy one to talk about as every month I do an update for my yearly goals and targets. You can find my latest one here,
But in summary I wanted to grow in all of the major apps that I enjoy.
- 100k Hive Power ( From 50k )
- 5k LEO power ( From 2.5k )
- 5k CTP power ( From 2.2K )
- 5k $CUB staked to the den.
- 50K SPS staked to the game.
4/5 I smashed through easily enough except for Hive power itself. That is mainly down to being involved with so many new areas across the eco-system that I kept spending it for games and tokens.
That is the great thing about Hive is that i was able to earn from my activities here and move those funds into other areas to get involved with more and more projects. This was just sideways growth instead of straight forward growth.
Next year I will just be looking for more of the same from a numbers point of view. I will do a full numbers post in the new year but roughly i will be looking to double all of current balances and keep up the exponential growth.
Even better than just fusing on the numbers involved is the fact that i can currently live off my crypto earnings thanks to the success of splinterlands and the hive eco-system in general. I don't know how long that this will last but it has made a huge difference to my life.
I am no longer tied down to a horrible job with unsociable hours.
I now have time to spend with my friends and my family thanks to Hive and have a much better quality of life. I now have a proper work life balance where i spend a few hours a day working at what i love and then can put it down while i spend time with the ones that i love. Who can ask for much more than that?
Community goals.
Hive is all about the community at the end of the day and that is why i want to see our whole eco-system grow and develop. As much as i love the people that i interact with on the chain. There is plenty room to bring in even more.
My biggest worry about Hive is the potential to ruin what could be a great thing by thinking short term. We have lost thousands of great users over the past few years solely from the negative actions of others and especially larger accounts.
As community members with large accounts there is a responsibility to develop our eco-system and that hasn't been helped by downvoting and arguments. It is much better now than it has been in previous years but i want us all to reach a stage of maturity where we can disagree with other opinions while letting them express it. We can't really claim that hive is a free speech platform while HP is still being used to silence opinion.
**What happens if we do scale to millions of users? **
Unless we start helping and retaining the ones that we do have then we might never achieve the growth that we need to become great. And the goal should always be to achieve greatness.
For this time next year, I want to see 1 million active accounts, writing, engaging, transacting and gaming across the chain and the community.
Development goals.
Both of these tie into the last part of the chain which is far above my paygrade. What do we need to make this all happen?
There are a few things that I would love to see release in 2022 that could be a big part of seeing our community grow and help my account grow in the process.
It's the same message that has been repeated over the past four years and it is the same message that we are shouting for the next four.
Ease of use.
Build for the lowest common denominator.
I have to say that there have been a few exemplary examples of this from the past year by the teams developing splinterlands and leofinance but we need so much more.
- Second layer accounts.
- Social media sign ups.
- Mobile apps.
- Fiat on/off ramps.
- Plug and play communities.
- Monetized content.
- More games.
- Pre built dev tools.
A lot of this is hopefully on the way and so much more that we haven't even though of yet. Development feels slow and we as a community are impatient. It's in our body and in our minds. The amount of progress in this year alone has been astounding from some of the community so we just need to see even more for 2022.
These are the things that we know will help to improve the hive experience and with HAF coming soon it might all come true for us.
2022 is going to be a big year for Hive.
I know that we say this every year but it is slowly coming true. Think of the past year measured against the ones that came before and how much has happened for the community. The progress has been amazing compared to 2019.
Sometimes it can be hard to see it happening in real time but we are on the verge of greatness.
We have so many people doing so much work that we will be noticed.
We have seen how fast things can grow in the play to earn sector when people realize the potential. What do you think will happen when the see everything that we have going on right now.
My goal is to spend another year, learning, playing, earning, teaching, screaming and at some stage succeeding with my personal goals as the rest of this brilliant community does the same.
