VALIDATOR NODES:
Validators are node operators who each keep a copy of the blockchain and perform specific functions to ensure the system's security. They are essentially the moderators of a token's staking system. Accounts running validator nodes in Splinterlands will be responsible for validating all SPS transactions and controlling the SPS foundation funds.
How can a splinterlands player benefit from validator nodes?
Aside from making securing the system, accounts that run validator nodes receive rewards. The process goes something like this:
- Any account with staked SPS tokens votes for an account that runs a validator node.
- A random block in the HIVE blockchain will be assigned to a validator (based on the amount of staked SPS votes they have).
- The Validator will publish to the Hive blockchain a hash of the data in that block, which can then be checked and confirmed by all of the other validators.
- When the block is confirmed, the validator will be rewarded in SPS tokens for validating it.
Basically, The higher the staked SPS that votes for a specific validator, the more blocks they will be assigned and the more rewards they will receive.
