That's a wrap for my second week in the stock markets, and it's still going good.
I ended just a little in the red. But I know why that is and I've learnt my lesson well.
Now it's all about consolidating and getting ready for a move on cryptos.
Today's Additions
I've added half a dozen new stocks today. All small positions but helping to build the diversity.
My renewables group was bolstered with Enphase Energy and Canadian Solar, and I've got a couple more I hope to add next week.
One on my radar is Beam Global - but I am not quite sure about the viability of the tech. Any solar engineers out there who would care to comment on what Beam is offering...
I also decided to get a little foothold in the chip sector. They are in short supply at the moment and EVs need lots of them.
My first point of call was Nvidia and AMD.
Ecommerce is another area that I am taking a little position in.
PayPal was an obvious first buy for this, but I will be keeping an open mind for other opportunities in this sector.
A couple of other small legacy dividend stocks completed my purchases for the week. I will be covering these in a separate post.
Getting All Ethical
Alongside investing in mainstream stocks I am also allocating part of my funds to full-on 'ethical investments'.
I am keen to use part of my annual tax-free ISA allowance in an Innovative Finance ISA.
The two main options seem to be from Ethex or Triodos...
Both have pros and con. Both also have the issue of a shortage of available IFISA eligible investments at present - particularly before the end of the current tax year.
I started the process of setting up the Ethex IFISA - but it wasn't the slickest setup I have encountered.
My understanding is that I can have a different IFISA each tax year so I may run with the Ethex one now and then swap to the Triodos offering after April when they will have some new investments available to put money into.
I have also been dipping a toe in with a couple of tiny investments on the Seedrs crowdfunding platform this week...
These are rather speculative as the exit strategies are generally not well defined - but hopefully one or two them will pay off in good measure in the long term.
Crowdcube is the other similar UK based crowdfunding site...
I am undecided which of these platforms I prefer but I believe they are planning a merger soon so I will be able to get the best of both of them.
That's it for another day and another week.
I'll be deep in the research over the weekend to find a few more stocks to round off my first ISA portfolio.
Then I will be switching more attention to the crypto half of my investment strategy.
Good night
