I was fearing 16 February was going to be our first blank day on the crypto history front.
But then Bitcoin came through with a nice $50K home run.
The BTC records just keep falling and history keeps being made.
Almost, but not quite, time to revisit the prophecies of John McAfee...
16 February 2021 - Bitcoin reaches $50,000
After the big Musk Move the previous week Bitcoin continued its dramatic run up and broke through $50,000 for the first time.
BTC peaked at $50,645 before slipping back below $50,000. The cryptocurrency surged more than 71% since the beginning of the year.
The next target for Bitcoin will be the the $1 Trillion market cap which is now probably only a few weeks away.
Help the Project and earn HIVE
Researching This Day in Crypto History is a major undertaking.
I have so far found notable events for nearly half the days of the year and I am continually discovering more.
To ensure there are not any 'empty days' it would be great if anyone can contribute more events - particularly for the days I am missing in the next few weeks...
February 17th, 21st, 26th
March 2nd, 4th, 5th
I will pay 1 HIVE (until further notice) for events on any of these days that I use in the daily posts.
The events will have to be notable enough, with links to reputable websites for verification. Events can be posted in comments below or sent to me on Discord (Pennsif#9921).
I am continually finding new events so I will attempt to keep the 'empty days' list updated.
For days where I already have some events I will still pay 0.5 HIVE for additional events that I haven't found already. You can either wait for the days to be published or send the events to me and I will let you know if I already have them (you will have to trust me on that !).
Bitcoin's dramatic progress saved the day, and stopped us hitting our first empty day.
I'm digging deep to fill the gaps and uncover little gems.
Tune in again tomorrow to see what we manage to unearth for 17 February.
Good night
