Mostly when policies are being made, it's usually glaring that most these policies would affect the poor more than the rich or would affect the illiterate more than the illiterate. The reason why I said this is that, I am trying to drive towards the market women who most of them are largely illiterate. Most of them Basically transact in physical cash because they are not learned enough to make use of the internet banking.
The cashless policy and the illiterates.
I know a particular market in Ilorin, where most of the business women there are illiterates. They don't have interest transacting through internet banking. I am just being concerned what would be the fate of these market women that have interest trading daily with the physical money. With the introduction of the cashless policy, I am trying to figure out most of them would cope with the new policy.
Talking about those that are illiterates, during the last naira redesign policy some years back up till today there are some part of Nigeria that are still spending the old naira notes which are still in circulation in that part of the country. I experienced it when I went for my service in state in the part of the North.
The policy is something that should be able to work with fast but because of the tussle between the literates and the illitrates, the deadline for the old Naira not to be in use should be postponed so that it won't affect a part more than the other.
