I want to use this medium to greet all great Hivers. How has been your day so far, hope you are all doing good? I'm positive minded that it's all well and fine.
Mortality in the poultry farm can be dealt with if one takes accurate precautions. Aside incident that could occur in the poultry farm pen which could lead to mortality, one of the major causes of mortality in the poultry farm is "viruses" or "diseases". Mortality won't happen if there's a healthy poultry farm. And what could breeds a healthy poultry farm? This has to do with how the Farmer takes care of his or her pen.
What you should be doing to your broiler birds when they are above five weeks?
When birds are still in their tender age, passing and spreading diseases and viruses are confirmed to be minimal aside if there is a little mix up from the hatchery farm. Hence, there shouldn't be any sort of passing and spreading of diseases among these birds. One thing I want you to take cognizance of is that, it's common for broiler birds to experience mortality from four weeks to five weeks. This is because it's easier to spread diseases and viruses when they have grown up. This is thorough care must be given to these birds when they are above five weeks.
So once your broiler birds is five weeks plus, ake sure you are washing their drinkers almost every day. This is important for Farmers that use open drinkers. After a while, if you check the inner part of the drinkers, you will observe that it's going to be slippy(like birds spit). So if their drinkers are not washed everyday that might lead to quick spread of diseases because of the dropping and spit from their mouth. Finally, when this precaution is met, there's assurance that one's gain will be intact unlike someone who diseases and viruses have ravaged his or her poultry Pen.
