I have started rearing Broiler chicken for quite a while now and I have observed so many things during this course. One of the things I have observed is that it's always very common that during November/December Broiler chicken either live or dressed are always scarce to come by. To the extent that most of the retailers we haven't talked for Months, this is always the period to ask me if I have Broiler chicken to supply at my disposal.
What's really reason behind the scarcity of Broiler chicken during this period?
That practice has been happening for long and this always happens among the small scale Farmers, they always feel like hoarding their chicken product so that can sell on live weight during the festive periods and the reason is that they believe that live weight pays better then selling on dressed or live weight.
Yes it does, but the outcome on business wise isn't good because it's not everyone who will be able to sell off their chicken product during festive period. So once you have some left till the new year, you will have high broiler chicken supply with Retailers buying at low price.
