"The Subject"

Downvotes, formerly known as 'flags' in the old days. Actually these are nothing new in these "social networks" in the blockchain. Especially in these "social networks" that boast of monetarily rewarding content creators. Authors and "curators" of content equally. Because obviously, it is clear that there are always some individuals who apparently feel more 'equal' than others. And in such equality, some always try to demonstrate what it is, not necessarily with a lot of intellect, reason and conscience. But on the contrary, only through the petty interests that exclusively would please the tastes of the few with the fattest wallets and those of their wealthy cronnies.

It looks like if the business strategy of the biggest Hive stakeholders in the platform too often is seen much more favorable only for their own mob when they downvote. A business strategy which creates a separate world for anyone in some sort of imposed echo chambers. Those where anyone may feel praised and admired on one given moment and punished, broke and ostracised at any other depending on their opulent and erratic whims.

Every stupid or empty person may have a bunch of followers regardless of their work, effort, originality or the quality and value of their content as long as they have a high amount of Hive Power. Ignoring that by downvoting they only will lose their business. Since by downvoting, people and newcomers who see that trend would think twice before joining the platform, engage and interact or staying and sharing new content.

Since apparently they can't imagine the negative impact this downvoting dynamic would have and is having on the user experience. Which is actually beginning to drive good people and quality authors who were/are creating original, valuable and well-researched content here, away from this otherwise great blogging ecosystem.

Having already said all of the above and so as not to confuse you much or make this post very long. Allow me now to close this post by sharing an old video courtesy and in tribute of our good friend Hive account@dwinblood that I recently edited and uploaded online.

In this video I try to illustrate in a quite animated, entertaining and colorful way everything that I have already mentioned above. Supported by the majestic spoken narrative of our friend Hive account@dwinblood that in some sort of poetry tone describes in a very coherent way this ancient problem of the downvotes.

I just hope he likes this revamped and a bit more colorful version of his old video. But in any case, it's here now to be shared by everyone everywhere to spread his wise message and promote his eloquent words to anyone who wants to listen and absorb them with full attention. Feel free to substitute every mention of the word steemit, steem and steem power throughout the video with Hive, Hive Power, HBD or whatever. In fact, I already did it in the Spanish subtitles that I am about to upload soon.

But for the moment and for those not English native speakers who still do not master spoken English very well. Let them know that at least I have uploaded the subtitles in English to make it a little easier for them to understand what the video is talking about.
