Blockchain-backed social media?
Iva Wisher, co-founder of Ignite, a distributed microblogging platform, said blockchain could also be a solution to the new regular state censorship of the current pandemic.
"For us, we believe blockchain media technology should give people the freedom to choose with social media content-just the same way blockchain fintech technology brings that freedom to financial activity."
According to Wisher, moderators aren't part of the decentralized platform that exists, so blockchain-based social networks and microblogging platforms have implemented an AI-enabled sensitive content tagging system to use all kinds of you need to "protect users from illegal content." He added that he was aiming to fight censorship.
Ignite co-founder Vladislavs Semjonovs says a decentralized platform with a community governance system like Ignite makes it "technically impossible" for state-backed censorship, including the recent U.S. government ban on TikTok.
