Soon the entire world will run through the Metaverse.Facebook has changed the name of the company to create its own strong presence in that world. Earlier, Facebook also bought the virtual reality company Oculus. The term 'metaverse' is the latest buzzword in the tech industry's fantasy world. The concept of the metaverse has become so popular that the most famous internet platforms are rebranding themselves to embrace it.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that he is changing the name of his company to Meta Platforms Inc. or Meta for short. Science fiction writer Neal Stephenson first used the term in his 1992 novel Snow Crash. After that, the biggest thing about the concept of metaverse is going to be the name change of Facebook. But apart from Facebook, many other companies are also thinking of creating Metaverse.
What is the Metaverse ?
You can think of it as bringing the Internet activity to real life or at least turning it into 3D. Zuckerberg describes it as a 'virtual environment' where you can step into it instead of just looking at a screen. Basically it is a world of endless interconnected virtual communities where people can meet, interact and play using virtual reality headsets, augmented reality glasses, smartphone apps or other devices.
According to new technology analyst Victoria Petrok, it will also include other aspects of online life, such as shopping and social media.

Imagine a world where after a company makes a new model of their car, they put it on the market online and you, as a buyer, can drive the car from anywhere in the world. Or like an outfit while online shopping at home. After trying on a digital version of the garment, you place an order to purchase the garment.
It might sound like a sci-fi movie based on science fiction. But to be honest, it is no longer a fantasy. The work of creating such a technology has already started. This technology will make the online virtual world feel like the real world. Let's say a friend of yours on Facebook has posted some wonderful pictures of a trip to the hills of Chittagong Hill Tracts. This technology makes it look like you are there when you visit Facebook. The technology through which all this will happen is called Metaverse. It is said that Metaverse will be the future of the Internet. Technologists say the metaverse will make the virtual world of the Internet seem like the real world where human interaction will be multidimensional. With Metaverse technology, you can not only see something, but also be able to immerse yourself in it.
Things we do in the Metaverse:
We can do things like go to a virtual concert, travel online, view or create artwork, and buy or purchase digital clothing. Metaverse could also be a game-changer for the work-from-home approach brought about by the coronavirus pandemic. This allows you to join colleagues in a virtual office, instead of seeing them in a video call grid.
Future of Metaverse:
Zuckerberg invests heavily in what he sees as the next generation of the Internet. Because he thinks it's going to be a big part of the digital economy. Facebook has been researching virtual reality and augmented reality for the past few years. When I started Facebook, we just typed text on the website. When we got phones with cameras, the internet became more visual and mobile. Video has become a rich way to share experiences with the increasing speed of the Internet. We've moved from desktop to web, from web to mobile; From text to images and from images to video. But this is not the end.
The next platform will be even deeper, a living Internet where you don't just look at it but experience it. We've named it the Metaverse, and it will touch every product we make. A key feature of the metaverse will be a sense of presence – as if you are actually present with another person or in another place. A sense of real presence with another person is the ultimate dream of social technology. That is why we are focusing on building it.
In Metaverse you can do almost anything you can imagine—get together with friends and family, work, learn, play, shop, create—as well as completely new experiences that truly fit the way we think about computers or phones today. In this future, you'll be able to instantly teleport or appear as a hologram in the office, at a concert with friends, or in your parents' living room without having to travel down the street. This will open up more opportunities no matter where you live. You'll be able to spend more time on things that matter to you, cut down on traffic, and reduce your carbon footprint.
Let's see what is waiting for us.
