As a newbie, it gets overwhelming assimilating everything, because this is a new environment for you, your brain has not yet adapted to everything here on Hive. Don’t feel bad, it’s okay, we were all once new here, but with time we got to know about what we know now. This is the reason I always tell any newbie am introducing into Hive to explore and get familiar with the environment first.
As a Newbie you must have noticed that after introduction, when you wanted to make a post, they were specific tags you were putting, some of the these tags can be the proofofbrain tag, the Leofinance tag, the neoxian tag and more. These tags let’s your post get seen in their unique front end. For instance putting the Leofinance tag (post must be related to finance and technology), let’s your post to be seen in the Leofinance community, putting the proofofbrain tag, let’s your post to be seen in the proofofbrain community, putting the neoxian tag let’s your post to be seen in the neoxian community.
Note that if this community has a front end, then the community tag lets the post visible in the front end.
Now you have made your post, it’s past 7 days and you have gotten your rewards. Your mentor tells you to check your Hive Engine wallet, you get confused thinking what’s Hiveengine wallet. But then he/she directs you on how to check your HiveEngine wallet, you check the wallet and realize you are seeing other tokens[not Hive, Hivepower or HBD(Hive Backed Dollar)]as rewards earned from your post.
Hive engine is the Dapp platform built on the Hive blockchain to help enable communities build on the Hive blockchain with ease.

So when these communities get built on the Hive blockchain, to upgrade the community, because the internet is being upgraded, the community gets tokenized with its own individual unique token. These tokens are called hive engine token, you can also refer them as community tokens if you want to to be specific of the community. For instance the community token for the Leofinance community is the Leo token.
The reason you are getting these hive engine tokens is because, you put the community tag on your post, which makes the post visible in the community front end, so anyone that views the post from the community front end, if they have the community token staked or powered up, their upvotes will enable you earn the community token. Just as someone with Hive power’s votes has value and gives your post a value, so do someone with a Leo power’s upvote. Their upvote will have a Leo token value and that will enable you earn leo tokens as autour reward and enable them earn Leo tokens as curation reward.
You can see that I earned a Leo curation reward for curating a post that was either created on the Leofinance front end or used the Leofinance tag.
While here you see I earned a Leo author reward for creating a post on the Leofinance front end or using the Leofinance tag.
The beauty of Hive is that one post can earn you lots of Hiveengine tokens as long as the upvotes are coming from the people who have the community tags token staked or powered up. For instance if you have the Leofinance tag, proofofbrain tag, neoxian tag and the cent tag on your post, and I have these community tokens staked, my upvote automatically gives you and I the opportunity to earn author and curation reward from each and every community token. That is you and I will simultaneously earn the author and curation reward from Leofinance (Leo token), proofofbrain(pob token), neoxian(neoxian token), cent(cent token) from that post.
Note that not all communities are tokenized on Hive, like the community, the
, the
community and more . And also not all tokenized communities have a front end, like the the mancave community that has a
bro token or the
with the DCC token.
