A couple weeks back it was said on the town-hall that Splinterlands is thinking about making reward cards Soul-Bound. Put another way; Splinterlands wants to have it so Reward Cards can not be traded. The exception to this would be previous Reward Cards that weren't Soul-Bound before the change comes to be. If this change does come to be one of the changes that come with will be that Reward Cards can only be burned when at MAX Level. I gave my thoughts on this potential change in a post titled Splinterlands: Soul Bound Reward Cards. Now that some time has passed since the initial announcement and the dust has settled (so to speak) I have gave the potential change some further thoughts and been reading the thoughts of others. In doing so I come across a suggestion that I thought was the best of two worlds (bound/unbound reward cards). That suggestion was to make Soul-Bound Reward cards Soul-Bound but give the option to unbind using Vouchers. I have no clue who initially suggested this but I think it is a great idea. The original suggestion was for Voucher to be used on cards of higher level for unbinding but I don't think we need to limit it to leveled cards at all. The market for Vouchers will dictate at what level players see fit to unbind Reward Cards using Vouchers.
For example if Voucher spike to $1 USD there won't be many using them to unbind a $0.02 reward card. This in itself is a fail safe which keeps the majority of low level cards soul-bound until they reach a certain price point. That price point will be influenced by scarcity and usability. I believe this will allow Reward Cards to be released in game at its current standard rate but because of having the "protection" of (1)being Soul-Bound (2) needing a Voucher to unbind what is likely to happen is a slow drip of Reward cards on market. This will likely be great for the general market which could potentially see many benefits to such an implementation. I don't suspect there will be many players willing to unbind a level one Reward card at current prices in which active in print level one reward cards are being sold for but picture this. An amazing common card is released. People are rushing to be the first to combine for a Max level card that is playable in Bronze/Siler/Gold/Diamond/Champion leagues and tournaments. Sellers see this demand and decide to unbind such a card using Vouchers (helps Voucher Price) and list on market for sale. Those who want to be among the first to own such a card fight over purchasing the limited stock on market that is for sale which in turn will spike the price of the unbind card while still allowing players to collect the bind versions via ranked play. Such scenarios are endless and apply to each rarity level. If the Splinterlands team decide to make future Reward Cards Soul-Bound I now think it would be an oversight to not implement Vouchers to unbind Reward Cards of all rarity and levels.
