These few weeks have been all about SBF and his court case. Early last week he was arrested and jailed. After his jailing, he was refused bail. He was at the Fox hill prison which is located in the Bahamas where he was arrested earlier. It was reported that he run to the Bahamas after news had been leaked that he was part of a conspiracy to down FTX. As the CEO of FTX, it was reported that there was a huge financial loophole which forced binance into a U-turn on bailing them out of their bankruptcy.
After his arrest in the Bahamas, his parents asked for his bail which was refused but later it was reported that he agreed to be extradited to the US where he was accused of fraud. According to CNN he has been ‘’indicted on 8 counts of fraud and conspiracy”.
FTX was founded by SBF in the year 2019 and has really come as a surprise that it turned out to be a fraud. It has been around for 3 years now and if for anything no one expected it to collapse after Luna's crash a few months ago.
Now SBF has been reportedly bailed out from jail for a whopping 250 million dollars. An amount which was set by a judge after some random questions. When SBF was asked how much he was worth he said he was worth only 100 thousand dollars but after his bail was set at 250 million his parents came to his rescue and bailed him out.
How could an amount of 250 million dollars just be made available by a man who claims he is worth only 100 thousand dollars? Then it was later reported by the new CEO of FTX claiming that the parents of SBF were paid by FTX. SBF’s parents claimed they got the money from the sale of some of their properties. After the bail was paid he was taken home. Outside the courtroom, there were dozens of media men asking a lot of questions which he didn’t answer. I think I heard one of the media ask how he was gonna pay the investors who lost their fortunes investing in the company.
Whatever this is I can’t wait till it’s over. His parent's reason for wanting to send him home was because of his diet and some shit. They claim their son eats vegan food and his kind of food was not being served at the Bahamas prison where he was held.
With his bail amount set at 250 dollars million, it seems to be one of the highest ever set amounts for bail. Some outlets have reported it being the highest ever but some have also reported it being the second highest. Whichever is correct it still stands out in the top 3.
