A couple of years back when we were chatting with Dada (yes it was back when even I used to chat😃, good 'ol days eh?!) he said something that I didn't quite understand at the time, so I just went with the flow. The topic of discussion was dada's younger days, (I'm not saying he's old, I'm just saying he's wise!! If you know, you know!).
"When I needed money, I traded."
This is what he said and it confused me. I could not understand how can you just trade at will and make money? Making money by trading...wasn't it supposed to be about good discipline? And consistency? It didn't make sense. I had just started trading back then and it seemed extremely difficult even with discipline and consistency. So my bewilderment at the thought of making money trading at will when you need some extra help, is justified!
Fast forward a few years to 2022.
I FINALLY ended up changing my phone and it was at a price range that I'd consider luxury for me. I'd never go for something that expensive even when my father offered me to pay for it.
So me being me, I decided on a budget friendly phone and just when I'd press the kill switch and buy it, my dad added some extra cash and told me to increase the budget. The only issue here was now my budget increased to a very tricky level. Nothing on the market at that range satisfied me. Anything I liked was either at my initial budget, or well over my newly increased budget. A few years back I'd have settled for the one at my initial budget. But turns out this time I had some "magic internet money!"
To be fair, this is not the first time I used the "magic internet money" (aka, fake money as so many mainstreamers would say). Crypto covered a major chunk of some of my preparatory courses for post graduation. I paid course fees with crypto, that were once too expensive for me to think of getting, I paid for question bank subscriptions with crypto.
But you see, none of those were physical products to actually hold and use and feel. Once the subscriptions expire, it vanishes....just like "magic" eh?!
Back to my phone budget, this time around I didn't settle for the initial choice. I jumped the ship and bumped my budget up to what I consider "a bit too expensive for just a phone." And I bumped it up with the magic internet money I had lying in one of my wallets I had separated for a course that I never ended up taking. And voila! I have a phone I'm finally pretty satisfied with! An actual physical product!
"Fake money" enthusiasts will say well it wasn't entirely crypto was it? No it wasn't! But guess what, the First 'real word' thing I ever bought with "magic internet money" was actually something very special for a very special person. But I doubt even she knows it was bought entirely with crypto! ;)
Spoiler alert : She doesn't know, NOT YET.
I was simply too busy during that period to think about blogging, so a thank you note to crypto went missing.
But better late than never, no?!
Now what happened as I pulled the trigger on getting the phone I wanted was, I kiiinda forgot that I was kiiiinda relying on that extra cash I had in my wallet to get through my final few days in Dhaka before I go back for eid holiday! I didn't bring any extra cash with me as I was sure I had enough. বেশি à¦à¦¾à¦¬à§‡ উঠলে যা হয় আর কি!
No, I wasn't dry of liquid, in fact the opposite since I listened to the suggestion of a wise young man, "Keep some liquid bro!" But I just didn't wanna tap into that because that's my eggs nest! That's my savings. And as dada says, you never tap into your eggs nest no matter what! So the loop went something like this :
I need money - I have the money - But I can't use that money _ I need money!
And then like the lightning struck astronomy tower, "When I needed money, I traded," buzzed in my ears. I had traded long enough to now understand how this was possible. It was in fact all about discipline and consistency! I just did not understand the concept back then and thought they were contradicting each other.
Of all the trades I have done over the years, if there's one that I think I have mastered it is Scalping. And that's the technique I went for now when I needed some extra bucks to tie the loose ends. That's consistency! Kept it simple and easy.
And the discipline? Well, if you've been reading my blog since the early days you may very well know my discipline of "2 cents!" Only adjustment was, now that HIVE moves on a larger scale, the discipline of two cents was changed to the discipline of 4 cents! And I'm good to go not just for the last few days in Dhaka, but for quite some time to come ;)
