People are running after money. They do not bother if that comes from a legit way or illegit way. Even in many cases they fell into trap for earning money through easy way. Likes the recent INR 712Cr scam that was unearthed in India. This too has some crypto connection as well, which might create certain hindrances in crypto adoption in India. Every day the scammers come up with new techniques and ideas through which they fool the common people. In the recent case, the scammers fooled the people through offering easy online jobs.
Falling into Trap :
It proved to be an eye opener for me, as I was too looking out for some online jobs in recent times, although I am yet to begin any kind of job, I was taken aback with the recent news. In this case the scammers offer simple assignments like youtube videos liking or writing google reviews and compensated after completion. The most shocking and surprising part was that even some highly paid software professionals have lost enormous amount to these scammers. As per the initial reports, the scammers offered rate & review certain tasks through a messaging apps (I too received few times in my #whatsapp and #telegram but ignored them).
In beginning they ask for simple tasks and on getting handsome return the scammers ask the users to invest certain amounts for higher return. The investment begins with smaller amount and gradually end up with higher amount. A kind of trap that the scammers throw to catch the fish. The scams are so big that an individual have lost more than 28 Lacs INR.
Investigation into the case revealed that the invested amount by the user were transferred to multiple bank accounts in India, and eventually to Dubai. The fraudulent money was later utilised for purchase of crypto currency. Which was later routed to China. As per initial finding, 15000 Indians were victims of this scam in last one year and suffered losses averaging Rs.5-6 Lacs in less that year.
Nothing is Free:
We often carried away with free things and forget that everything has a price. What seems to be very lucrative, may comes with a cost which are hard to bear. In this case people easily fell into trap looking at the easy nature of the job and getting higher return. In process forgets their own limitation and keep on investing money now and then. Which results in losing all their hard-earned money or lifesaving.
Avoid free offers:
As the lesson learned, never carried away with free stuffs. Scammers try to make hole in your pocket or wallet through different means. The only way to avoid them is stay alert and never let the free things to spoil your life. In my case, I found those message very annoying as they were not in my contact list and I never used my personal number over internet to get such messages, still they figure out and send those messages which I completely avoid.
It is always good to live life through hard earned way. It is more satisfying.
