This is the second part of my beautiful story about the knight's market in the Smederevo fortress. Not everything could fit in the first post, so I had to make this one as well. How nice to apologize to you.
We cannot imagine a knight without his sword. But all those swords have to be made by someone, that someone is called "Blacksmith". It is a man who melts steel and shapes it into a sword. Being a blacksmith is not an easy job, it takes a lot of physical strength, but it takes expertise to make a great sword that will last.
And if a blacksmith is a very difficult job, throughout history it has happened that a blacksmith is also a woman. It even happened that a woman made a better sword, knife, spear than a man. So don't start women and think they are weak...
At the market, I saw a girl who wanted to try what it was like to be a blacksmith, so she took a hammer (which is not light at all, it weighs about 2 kg) and took it to make a small knife. She was really adorable in that attempt of hers.
It was too crowded, the people were constantly changing, people were coming out and new visitors were coming in. But not only did they see weapons, in this market we could also see some fruits that the knights love to eat. These are apples, for some reason knights eat them very often.
I liked the arrows the most, which were made by hand as people made in the Middle Ages. I was amazed at how precisely those arrows were made, they were made so that they were perfectly flat. So that they could fly long without being disturbed by the air. At the end of the arrow were real, natural feathers. These feathers serve to keep the direction so that the arrow flies straight without falling fast.
