Kevin Helms reports in bitcoin.com that "a high-level meeting is reportedly being held on cryptocurrency regulation in India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take a final decision on how India will regulate the crypto sector."
Citing The Economic Times he further reports that "the options include a complete ban on private cryptocurrencies, a partial ban, allowing all categories of crypto products with regulation, or just a select few with regulation."

If we look at Modi's track record about centralization, his government is hellbent on centralizing everything and grabbing all the state government powers, and putting everything under the control of the central government.
A glaring example is the farmers' protest. The farmers were protesting the central government's attempt to regulate the farming sector which comes under the state government.
Kevin also notes a recent conversation of Prime Minister Modi with President Joe Biden in which Modi stated that "emerging technologies, including cryptocurrencies should be used to empower democracy, not undermine it."
It would be interesting to see what his interpretation of "empowering democracy" is. All he did during his two-term prime ministership was to strangle democracy any way he can.
